Music Monday: Happy Halloween!

In the words of becky on Glee, "Get me some chocolate or I will cut you." It's Halloween, so naturally (once I get some rest - I didn't sleep well last night), I will be snacking on candy most of the evening. Don't look at me like that, you know you will too!

(How glad are we that Glee is coming back tomorrow night?)

This house is SO legit. Check out the Party Rock video from this house. I'm in awe of how awesome these people are. Reminds me of Christmas, which I can officially get semi-excited for after today. I love looking at lights.

I ain't scared of no ghost (except that I am).

Don't feel like you need to watch all 13 minutes...

What are your favorite Halloween songs?

I Know I Say a Lot of Things Are Epic, but...

Seriously, this. is. EPIC. I went to see In Time this afternoon with my friend Jessica and we saw this. I got chills. I'm SO excited.

Last summer they were casting the movies and I never thought December 2011 would get here, but now we're a little less than 2 months until this movie comes out! I didn't think it would measure up to the Swedish versions (which follow the books pretty strictly), but from the trailer I think it might. But, we'll just have to wait to see.

I'm also pretty pumped for the soundtrack to this movie (I loooooove soundtracks), because of the song they used in the teaser trailer a few months ago. Trent Reznor (did the Social Network score) and Karen O (The Yeah Yeah Yeahs) covering Led Zepplin. Sold.

After this movie, I'll be on the countdown for the Hunger Games in March.

I'm a movie addict, what can I say?

A Little About Me

I had a few new visitors and hopefully some new followers after the October Follower Fest blog hop, so I thought I'd write a post that gives a summary of who I am (and you can always check out my About Me tab up there).

I share my name with the author of the "Star Spangled Banner," but my middle name is not Scott. No, my parents didn't do it on purpose.
I love college football. Boys are shocked by this, but when you go to a school with a really good football team, you get into it (go frogs!).
I'm a taurus and therefore, very stubborn.
I'm a really picky eater. My friends can attest to this.
I don't have my ears pierced. My pain threshold is ridiculously small.
I love pedicures.
One of my 2011 Resolutions was to read more books. I'm currently reading my 18th book of the year. You can see what I've read this year here.
I've been looking for a job for over a year. I can't get a job because I "don't have enough experience," but I can't get experience without getting a job (or an internship, which I can't get because I'm "not in school anymore or within 6 months of graduating").
I have a tri-color Pembroke Welsh Corgi names Napoleon Bone-Apart. He's adorable and hilarious.
I drive a silver Camry that I named Fleur after Fleur DeLacour from Harry Potter.
I love my friends. A lot.
I have the best of both worlds in that I'm an only child, but I have two step-sisters.
My family is hilarious.
I love dance.
I'm self conscious that my blog doesn't measure up to other cool ones.
I have a macbook pro. One of the best purchases. Ever.
I love music.

If you're a new follower or visitor, leave me a comment and tell me a little about yourself and leave your blog link. I'd love to follow you, too!

My First Blog Hop

I'm joining in on my first Blog Hop or Linky Party, whatever you might want to call it!

Photobucket
I'm linking up here.

Welcome new visitors! I hope you're having a fabulous time and enjoy my blog. Check out my About Me or some related posts below. Or just check out EVERYTHING!

It's my first Halloween with a pet of my very own, so naturally, he's dressing up.

He's not a huge fan of it, but I think he's just precious! But then again, when don't I?

Are your pets dressing up? Are YOU dressing up? If I dress up this weekend, I think I'm going to be Audrey Hepburn circa Breakfast at Tiffany's. I have the perfect black dress that is soooo Audrey.

Happy Halloweekend!

Thank God for Puffs Plus

No, it's not snowing. No, it's not even that cold yet (although it was pretty cold last week). But I've definitely got a cold. I had allergies a few weeks ago that never went away and after a weekend in the Fort, my immune system gave way to the cold that wanted to invade my body late last week.

Long story short, I LOVE Kleenex Puffs Plus. Procter and Gamble's stock must shoot through the roof during cold and flu season based on Kleenex purchases alone. And this is why I've been a little MIA this week with blogging. That and Nappy had surgery Monday to fix a hernia on his tummy.

What gets you through cold and flu season?

Music Monday: SYTYCD Tour 2011 Edition

This weekend was the So You Think You Can Dance tour in Grand Prairie and as usual, it was fabulous. Minus my camera battery AND cell phone battery dying right after intermission. So I didn't get pictures of several of my favorite dances, Melanie's solo, and pictures with the dancers afterwards (although I did meet some very nice people outside in the line and one took a few pictures of me for me to tag on FB, so that's really nice). Without further ado, Music Monday featuring some of my favorite parts of the SYTYCD Tour.

Group dance to "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay (new for the tour)

"Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen adapted for tour

Melanie's solo (and original audition piece) to "The Meadow" from New Moon

Ricky's solo to "Riot Rhythm" by Sleigh Bells (he's gotten better after the show)

Melanie and Sasha "Game On" by District 78

Vote for SuperFrog!

It's TCU Homecoming this weekend and supposedly today is SuperFrog's birthday! To celebrate they're giving out free cupcakes outside the library right now, but for those of us who can't be there to celebrate with a free cupcake, what better way to show our love for SuperFrog than to VOTE FOR HIM FOR CAPITALONE MASCOT OF THE YEAR?! He's the featured match-up this week and needs our votes! (Don't feel like you need to vote for any other mascot. Superfrog is the most important, obvs.)

From the Crate of Napoleon Bone-Apart

Last night was my last puppy class! Mommy was worried I'd be too distracted by the obedience class to pass my test, but I showed her and passed with flying colors! Mommy says I'm an AKC STAR puppy! I get a fancy medal and Mommy sent away for it this morning. I'm sad that it was my last puppy class. I'll miss my puppy class friends and seeing Jo in between classes. Maybe I'll take another class up there sometime.

This weekend Mommy is boarding me so she can go to something called a Homecoming. I thought this was our home? Mommy told me it's for her school. But anyway, she told me I'll be in good hands at the vet and I'll make some new friends.

Not too much has happened lately. Just being my cool puppy self. Mommy keeps talking about Halloween a costumes and what I'm going to dress up as. I'm very confused because I'm just a puppy, right? I don't know, it's all very confusing.

OH! The other night there was this thing called a storm. It rained for maybe the fourth time in my life. And the power went out. And then I had to go potty because I was scared, so Mommy took me outside in the rain. It was very scary, but I'm still here so I guess it's ok.

Anyway, that's all I have for now, I guess. I'll be sure to keep you posted on this Halloween thing.

Music Monday

I've been super apathetic and boring lately. Life isn't necessarily (Girls' night last weekend, Rose Festival this past, and TCU Homecoming/SYTYCD Tour coming up this weekend), but I have been.

I love Florence. That's all.

Tutorial: Teething Rag

My first ever tutorial!

For the past few weeks and the next couple, Nappy has been/will be teething. He's been such a trooper and hardly chewing on anything he shouldn't! I thought I'd do a tutorial on how we've been helping him with this process. I'd heard of parents doing this for their babies as well, but I added a little something extra for puppies!

Take an old wash rag that you're going to throw out/replace. (This is what they'll look like after the process which is why you should pick an old one).

Wet the rag. Then twist the rag as close to the infinity symbol as possible.

Put in Ziploc baggie in the freezer for at least 3 hours. Then take out and hit against sides of sink to get off extra frost. (Save the baggie because you can reuse it when you re-wet and -twist the rag).

Give to puppy to gnaw on. In a few hours it'll be soft enough for him/her to play with and untwist! Nappy loves this part!

When (s)he's untwisted it, rewet it and twist it back up and throw it back in the freezer. When Nappy first started teething we had two rags. Now that his teething isn't so bad, we alternate washing one while he plays with the other.

If you've got a teething puppy, I highly recommend this. It's been a really fun toy to watch Nappy play with and it hasn't cost a cent! If you have a puppy or know someone who has a puppy who is teething or almost teething, I hope this helps.

Big Kids' Table, Part Deux

Well, last year, TCU joined the Big East for the AQ BCS bid. Said they'd join in 2012 anyway. But then the Longhorn Network was created, A&M said "peace out" to the Big XII, Mizzou said "we're thinking about leaving maybe," and theBig XII (-2-1) was suddenly a little unstable. I mean really, who knew that Big XII and TCU would be in the same sentence without the word hates in between them. I think my favorite part is how cocky all the SMU fans got last weekend after their win thinking this hurt any chance the rumors of TCU to the Big XII being true. Clearly, it didn't.

So, thanks to the Ags and I guess the LHN, "peace out Big East," and to quote a TCU sports blog I follow called Spitblood, "Enjoy your piece of metal, Ponies, while we eat caviar and sip Dom with the big boys."

Confession: Guilty Pleasure

We all have them, those things we love that we shouldn't necessarily love so much. But we do and those, my friends, are guilty pleasures.

This summer, I discovered a terribly wonderful show called Dance Moms. It follows a dance studio owner and what I'm assuming is her junior competition company as the girls are all about 6-13 years old. And of course, the moms of these little dancers.

Dance Mom Christi helps daughter Chloe stretch
from the Dance Moms Facebook page

It's fantastic. These girls are all phenomenal dancers already, so while the teacher (and her choreographers) are doing something right, teacher doesn't always know best. But neither do the moms, really. I flip flop over who's right on every episode. When you throw so many females in one small space (like a dance studio), drama will always follow.

Anyway, it was announced last week (via on of my favorite dance moms' twitters) that Dance Moms has been picked up for a second season - and everyone, including crazy Cathy and her daughter Vivi, is returning! But first up, the finale is tonight on Lifetime (I know, I know, but this is literally the only time I'll every watch Lifetime) at 9 pm. I think I read they'll be showing the other episodes starting at 3 (I'm assuming Easter, so 2 Central) in a little marathon so you can catch up.

It's a little ridiculous, but that's why it's a guilty pleasure. What are your guilty pleasures? Will you be catching the finale of Dance Moms tonight?

Disney... IN 3D

I don't know if you're like me and went to see Lion King in 3D, but it was friggin' EPIC. 3D was pretty much the only way to make this opening scene more so - and I saw it twice. Lion King is one of my first movie memories at the theater - I remember seeing it with my mom and grandmother and watching my mom cry at the end when the circle of life was complete. Don't look at me like I'm heartless, I was all of 6 years old. But I don't really cry at movies anyway.

But seriously, Disney has started something and they have to continue until all of my childhood classics are covered. This certainly is a start that I'm excited THRILLED about. I got the chance to see Beauty and the Beast in IMAX about 10 years ago which just solidified it as my favorite (Disney) animated movie. And now it's coming out in 3D in January. I'm THRILLED as stated above. Just imagine "Be Our Guest" in 3D. LEGIT. EPIC. What other words can describe it?

And Little Mermaid in September 2013? It came out in 1989, when I was only 1, so I didn't see it in theaters, but my parents ever so graciously bought the VHS for me and legend has it I made my poor dad watch it with me EVERY DAY for an entire summer. I won't drag him to see it with me, but I will be singing along with that as I did with Lion King (and will be with Beauty and the Beast). "Under the Sea" will also be pretty legit in 3D.

Monsters Inc. is one of my favorite Pixar movies (ok, let's be real, Pixar movies are just awesome), and I'm sure it will be great in 3D, but I think Finding Nemo will probably be the best of these four in 3D.

Will anyone be joining me? I'm already putting these in my non-existant planner. Maybe I'll get a planner just to put these in?

Music Monday

Happy October, everyone!

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month...

And since Pink Floyd has been around for an awesome amount of time and just re-released all of their stuff on iTunes, I give you Music Monday: Pink Floyd edition.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday and a great start to October!
