Well recap: I graduated, spent all summer and fall looking for a job and received an offer the week of Christmas! I had a temp job or two somewhere in there too, but a full time offer came through right before Christmas and I started the second week of the new year! YAS!!!<div><br></div><div>Now I'm smack-dab in the middle of wedding season. Literally invited to FOUR weddings and a wedding shower this month alone. Two weddings were today and i wished more than anything I could've been in two places at once (and been able to afford sending one of my selves to Chicago).</div><div><br></div><div>Being in this time of my life and being SINGLE AS FUCK (pardon my French), I have a LOT of thoughts regarding my future wedding. Basically, I want it to be a big ass dance party full of some of my favorite people throughout my life. Childhood friends, camp friends, college friends, grad school friends, and family all coming together, wearing cool clothes, drinking some drinks and dancing their asses off.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-PXlDrkXoDzQ/VxMZJ3zs9BI/AAAAAAAACcE/k3g6eR_NRZE/s640/blogger-image--682178630.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-PXlDrkXoDzQ/VxMZJ3zs9BI/AAAAAAAACcE/k3g6eR_NRZE/s640/blogger-image--682178630.jpg"></a></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Seventh wheeling it. Classic.</div><div><br></div><div>I'm not going to lie. Tonight's wedding was not the most fun. Not for lack of trying. I just am single, and the friends I was with don't dance. I was more than a little disappointed. I rocked out the whole way home this morning and then to the wedding, thinking off all the songs I want my DJ to play at my wedding. I also tweet ranted about how my future husband's stamina on the dance floor better be TOP NOTCH and realized how thankful I am for my camp sisters and TCU froggy friends who all know and helped instill in me the importance of a good dance party complete with the best hits of the 80s and 90s boy bands!</div><div><br></div><div>So dear future wedding, you're a long way away right now, but I've been dreaming of you for a long time. With the advent of Pinterest and the great wedding season of 2016, I have BIG plans. HUGE plans for you. I hope you're not as far away as I think you are, but I know the timing needs to be just right. </div><div><br></div><div>I've re-entered the online dating world recently. Not ideal and ghosting sucks. But one of my best friends just got engaged to a wonderful man she met online and I'm in a wedding next fall for a friend who met her fiancé online as well, so I have hope.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-UefrF16QEc8/VxMZIu3AfwI/AAAAAAAACcA/eAA4RSdOJcI/s640/blogger-image-1004259395.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-UefrF16QEc8/VxMZIu3AfwI/AAAAAAAACcA/eAA4RSdOJcI/s640/blogger-image-1004259395.jpg"></a></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Me online dating like "are you lost?"</div><div><br></div><div>It's just tough for the time being. It seems like I'm the only single girl left and I'm a competitive person. It's one of my absolute greatest flaws, comparing myself and competing internally with those around me. But I know the wait will be worth it. One of my favorite songs, thanks to Lena Dunham and her HBO show Girls, is "Past Lives" by BØRNS (<a href="http://youtu.be/VDrwssKZPaw" style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">http://youtu.be/VDrwssKZPaw</a>) <span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">which is how I'll end this blog...</span></div><div><br></div><div>"<span style="text-align: center; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Through all of my lives</span></div><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><span style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: start;">I never thought I'd wait so long for you</div></span><span style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: start;">The timing is right, the stars are aligned</div></span><br style="box-sizing: border-box; text-align: center;"></span><div style="text-align: start;"><span style="text-align: center; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">So save that heart for me</span></div><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><span style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: start;">Cause girl you know that you're my destiny</div></span><span style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: start;">Swear to the moon, the stars, the sons, and the daughters</div></span><span style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: start;">Our love is deeper than the oceans of water</div></span><br style="box-sizing: border-box; text-align: center;"></span><div style="text-align: start;"><span style="text-align: center; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Hey I need you now</span></div><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><span style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: start;">I've waited oh so long yeah</div></span><span style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: start;">Baby love, I need you now</div></span></span><div style="text-align: start;"><span style="text-align: center; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">I've waited oh so long</span>"</div>Franceshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16856914456352985392noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2014333435420804456.post-86070915730048603342015-11-18T16:02:00.004-06:002015-11-18T16:02:53.432-06:00Incompetence On Fleek.Usually, I'm not one to complain about doctors or nurses. Even when I don't necessarily love their "bedside manner," I can usually tell they have the best of intentions. However, I have witnessed a new level of incompetence in the past week or so from one of my doctors and her nurse that is unfathomable.<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Generally, the schooling that nurses and doctors go through is rigorous and intense, so I know in that general realm, they are far more intelligent than I. Especially once I got to college and realized how intensely my nursing school and pre-med friends studied... I mean, come on. I <i>barely</i> passed "rocks for jocks," aka geology. I am a science idiot.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
When you're a generally healthy human, you might have one or two (if you're a woman) doctor(s). But I have gastrointestinal problems so I have a specialist I see regarding that part of my health. When this all started 10 years ago, I was in high school and my pediatrician referred me to a doctor that I believe the best in his field. He has kids my age, he understood how frustrating it was to not understand why your body was being weird and hurting at such a time in your life.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
When my symptoms got a little worse a few years after college and I wanted to do the lab work to test for Celiac, he obliged. A year later when I was diagnosed with Crohn's he just got it. He started me on medication because it's easier to work through medications and up to infusions rather than the other way around. The meds he put me on seemed to work. Then I moved back to the Fort for grad school and really wanted a doctor up here in case something happened, being that it was only about 6 months out from my 8-day hospital stay with an abscess that started the most recent gastro problems.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My new doctor was not as great, but he got it. He understood I didn't want to mess with things because I was in graduate school (a high stress situation with a disease heavily influenced by stress in most cases) and just maintained my prescriptions for me and was there should something happen. Then he retired last year. He referred me to someone within his practice. However, I didn't see that doctor. They gave me to another, younger doctor.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Young isn't the problem. I don't mind young. But the incompetence I have witnessed with her in two visits and numerous phone calls with her nurse... Incompetence on FLEEK. Something you DEFINITELY do not want on fleek. The bedside manner, the way they (both the doctor and the nurse) handle my prescriptions are beyond frustrating. They want to argue with me, they want to act like I don't understand my disease or know what I'm talking about.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
When you get diagnosed with something like this, it's really never far from your mind, because likely I'm living with it for life. It affects how I plan for trips, when I go to sleep, how much I sleep, how I deal with my workload, etc. Because it can be affected by stress. I'm thinking about going Gluten Free in 2016 (at least for a few months) to see if it helps. I visit the CCFA website and Facebook and twitter pages regularly to see what's going on, if there's any new information, what other patients are doing and experiencing. I want to stay educated on what's going on inside my body. Why on earth am I being treated like I know nothing about the disease I live with?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>TLDR; </b>My doctor is an idiot. My doctor's nurse is an idiot. They act like I don't understand Crohn's Disease and its treatment options and the medications I take. That I've been taking for almost 3 years in some cases. End rant.</div>

</div>
Back and a day late for a <a href="http://www.lifeaccordingtosteph.com/2015/10/show-us-your-books-anniversary-edition.html" target="_blank">link up</a> about what I've been reading lately...<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.lifeaccordingtosteph.com/" title="Life According to Steph"><img alt="Life According to Steph" src="http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b536/lifeaccordingtosteph1/bookbuttonlinkup_zps01365b43.jpg" height="200" style="border: none;" width="200" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Since I didn't link up for September, I'll review the books I've read since the last time I linked up.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>Life As We Knew It</i> by Susan Beth Pfeffer</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I'm a big fan of the post-apocalyptic YA genre. I can't get enough. This one about what might lead to those worlds I so love fascinated me, if only for the description of the plot. It's part of a series, but I just couldn't get myself interested in finishing it. There's no real resolution by the end of this book and the second and third are about different characters before they somehow meet up or their stories intertwine in the fourth book. It's ok, but not the greatest...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>The Affinities</i> by Robert Charles Wilson</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Just not super impressed with this at all. I don't even really know how to describe it other than a grown up <i>Divergent</i> in Canada and with booze...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>The End of Everything</i> by Megan Abbott</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Lizzie and Evie are besties. They do EVERYTHING together and even look alike. Then Evie goes missing. Lizzie feels it's up to her to find Evie. Oh yeah, they're like 12. Fairly interesting, but a little farfetched if you ask me. No one asks Lizzie anything really considering she's kind of at the center of things... Feel kind of like a 12-year-old wrote it.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>You Deserve A Drink: Boozy Misadventures and Tale of Debauchery</i> by Mamrie Hart</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
All the stars for this hilarious account of YouTube star Mamrie Hart's life. Each chapter contains a drink recipe and the drink's name relates back to the story. Personal favorite chapter was "Frame the Cookie," because the drink looked DELISH and the story was HILARIOUS. Also, you guys really need to look up her channel on YouTube. Each week (or month or whenever she feels like posting a video), she finds one person in pop culture who deserves a drink and makes it for them. The videos are built-in drinking games with TERRIBLE puns. She's hysterical. Get on the bandwagon.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>Grace's Guide: The Art of Pretending to Be A Grown-Up</i> by Grace Helbig</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
My YouTube education continued with another of the Holy Trinity's books, Grace Helbig. She's got another book coming out early next year, so again, jump on this bandwagon. Grace is me, guys. She perfectly quirky and awkward and just awesome. Her book is a how-to guide on everything from dating to getting a job and more. Not a memoir like Mamrie's, but still a pretty fun book.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>My Drunk Kitchen: A Guide to Eating, Drinking, and Going with Your Gut</i> by Hannah Hart</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The Holy Trinity's book tour concluded with Hannah's suggestipe guide with funny anecdotes thrown in for a little hilarity. Based on the premise of her YouTube channel, like Mamrie's, the book borrows it's title and fundamentals: nothing sharp as these are recipes (or suggestipes) for when you're drunk and need food. If it can't be cut with a butter knife it's not in here (so it's not like a super legit cook book, hence the suggestive term Hannah came up with). Foreword by novelist and YouTuber John Green. Buy it. Watch her. Get on the Holy Trinity bandwagon, guys. Drunk Pumpkin 3 is coming.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>Why Not Me?</i> by Mindy Kaling</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Mindy's long-awaited second book is HERE and it does not disappoint. Her first book was a classic and still on my Suggest to EVERYONE You Meet list. This book was not quite as great, but still hilarious and had more stories about her time in Hollywood and starting her own show, <i>The Mindy Project</i>, one of my all-time favorites and second-most-watched on Hulu now. Side note: if you're not watching, we can't be friends. Definitely a must-read if you're like me and love memoirs, Mindy, and mmmmreading (I wanted another M word. Yay alliteration).</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
That's what I've read lately. I'm currently nose-deep in Stephenie Meyer's retelling of <i>Twilight</i>, and boy is it RIDICULOUS. I hate the <i>Twilight</i> series, TBH, but this was just too stupid not to read and it's not disappointing in that aspect.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
What are you reading?</div>

This is a newer phenomenon as I am a new-ish sports fan. I mean, I went to most of the football games in college and a handful of baseball games, but I've only started actually understanding these games in the last 4-5 years.<br>
<br>
Anyway, back to my good sports luck resume:<br>
<br>
<ul>
<li>I have seen TCU baseball punch their ticket to the College World Series twice now, including 11 of 22 innings in 2014 and a 16 inning game in June this year.</li>
<li>I have gone to two college football bowl games (Rose Bowl 2011, Cotton Bowl 2014) and the teams I cheers for came out victorious.</li>
<li>And now I can add watching the Texas Rangers win the American League West division to that list!</li>
<li>And watching TCU football beat the absolute crap out of the UT Longhorns the day before is also going on that list.</li>
</ul>
This weekend was homecoming and I got to see so many friends! Homecoming in high school was always kind of boring, right? In college all of your friends go back to your favorite place and hang out wearing your favorite color(s) and it's just a wonderful time. Also, when your team beats the "big brother" of your state (if you're not the "big brother," that is), it's always an added bonus.<div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-GFsnsq_h0gk/VhLG2n98f6I/AAAAAAAACVM/82GsU-MEfRQ/s640/blogger-image-1123264775.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-GFsnsq_h0gk/VhLG2n98f6I/AAAAAAAACVM/82GsU-MEfRQ/s640/blogger-image-1123264775.jpg"></a></div><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-AnVD0RZ_MpA/VhLGxKyEoOI/AAAAAAAACUs/rdx_jKYmy7o/s640/blogger-image--1553901778.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-AnVD0RZ_MpA/VhLGxKyEoOI/AAAAAAAACUs/rdx_jKYmy7o/s640/blogger-image--1553901778.jpg"></a></div><br><br>
Sunday, I woke up still happy from TCU beating UT for the second year in a row (which hasn't been done since my dad was a BABY) and the third time in four years (our QB is the only TCU QB in history to pull off this feat, y'all). I proceeded to get up and get dressed because it was baseball gameday in America (and Canada... North America?) and I had a date with the Rangers.</div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QKLU0g7__0Y/VhLG0NDXqmI/AAAAAAAACU8/YVmGHkfsV80/s640/blogger-image--565109283.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QKLU0g7__0Y/VhLG0NDXqmI/AAAAAAAACU8/YVmGHkfsV80/s640/blogger-image--565109283.jpg"></a></div><br>Naturally, Snapchat has a Dallas story going on so my goal was to get on it with some Rangers snap videos. Womp Womp, didn't quite manage too, even with my GENIUS snap of SANTA dancing to some Queen during a pitcher change for the Angels. I'm sorry, but if Santa. who is rooting for your team, dancing to Queen can't make the snap story, I don't know what will.<br>
<br>
Anyway, the Rangers absolutely KILLED the Angels after hitting in 7 runs in the 7th inning and now they take on Toronto on Thursday! WOO!</div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-qC0ixbfWu44/VhLGymFMVQI/AAAAAAAACU0/6iAquy-yPxw/s640/blogger-image-1127843757.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-qC0ixbfWu44/VhLGymFMVQI/AAAAAAAACU0/6iAquy-yPxw/s640/blogger-image-1127843757.jpg"></a></div><br>

How was your weekend? Are you good luck for anything specific? Like getting your friends jobs? That also might be me (everyone around me, mom included, has gotten a new job lately so hi, it's my turn, right?).<br>

The real start of fall. I mean, it even feels like it in Texas. At least in the morning. It's been a week shy of six months since graduation and I have yet to be hired by someone.<br />
<br />
I'd be lying if I said I'm not worried or disappointed. I've gone through three different staffing agencies, been on more interviews than I can count, and not one application turned interview turned even second round has turned into a "You're hired! Here's your office/cubicle/desk/WHATEVER." And yes, the job market is BEYOND better than it was 5 years ago when I finished my Bachelor's. I could barely find jobs to apply for, let alone get called back for an interview. I've had SO many interviews. It's a confidence booster that people want to talk to me for a bit. Then comes the soul-crushing no.<br />
<br />
I know, I know. I have the rest of my life to work. But it's hard to feel like yourself and like you have a purpose if you're constantly getting rejected either by a "No" to your face, a "No" in e-mail form, or just straight ghosted. Never been ghosted? You're clearly not online dating or looking for jobs. Ghosting usually applies to the dating world, but it definitely applies to unprofessional professionals that say "You'll hear from us either way" and then drop off the face of the earth (unfortunately, the act of ghosting is not as cute or fun as the ghost emoji or snapchat logo).<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>👻</b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Around month 3 is when FUNemployment turned fUnemployment... That was also the time I started BINGEING on YouTube. And I mean BINGEING. I watched at least 30 hours in the first 3 days I got onto YouTube. I'd always been a fan of a select few like Jenna Marbles and her boyfriend, Julien, and a few of his friends. But my friend Amanda was into Mamrie Hart, Grace Helbig, and Hannah Hart (aka the Holy Trinity). Then I discovered Flula, Miranda Sings/Colleen Ballinger, Glozell, Zoella, and Tyler Oakley. Then I read the Holy Trinity's books. Now I'm waiting for Tyler's book to come out later this month. I follow them on Snapchat. I follow them (and some of their dogs) on Instagram and Twitter. A week or so ago, Jenna Marbles started following me back on Twitter.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Watching these people's lives was fascinating and a distraction from my own, namely that hellish job search. Amanda and I have a fantastic idea for a YouTube channel of our own. However, we need a camera, and SD card, a ring light, etc and ALL of that costs money. Starting her own job search around the time of my YouTube-ducation, we are BROKE as JOKES. So the channel is on hold. Money obviously is one half of the equation. There's also the factor of not wanting potential employees to find said channel where we may or may not plan on drinking and may or may not act like the complete weirdos we are and decide we're crazy and/or immature or whatever adjective they might decide we are based on a 7- to 15-minute video every other week or so that they watch about 2 second of before passing judgement.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So for now, I'm a 27-year-old, overeducated, female mooching off my parents, wishing I got paid for interviews because I'd have a couple hundred extra bucks in the bank if so. I've also decided I want to write a book. I've read my fair share of funny females' books in the past couple of years and I'm totally capable of writing some of my thoughts down. I mean, I'm doing it now. Not that there are many of you reading, but whatever. It's cathartic.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Anyway, I hope you're not taking your job for granted. And if you are on this beautiful Friday afternoon, remember my little story. I'll gladly switch places for a few weeks as long as I get your paycheck. No, seriously. my bank account is looking like a kid from District 12 in Panem.</div>

</div>
I just found out about this fantastic link up and since I've been devouring book after book during my period of funemployment, I thought I'd share what I've been reading and what I thought about those books!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22875090-when-we-were-animals" target="_blank">When We Were Animals</a> by Joshua Gaylord</div>
<div>
Something in a small town makes teenagers run wild for a few nights every full moon. Interesting premise, but never really explains anything. I couldn't put it down because the writing was SO interesting, but the main character is unreliable and boring. The book also becomes highly predictable towards the end. Great writing, but the plot? Notsomuch.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22571625-pittsburgh-dad" target="_blank">Pittsburgh Dad: Everything Your Dad Has Said to You</a> by Chris Preksta and Curt Wooten</div>
<div>
I saw this in the bookstore and had to pick it up for part of my Father's Day gift to my dad. Hilarious quips and excerpts from conversations that will remind you of your dad, grandfathers, and great grandfathers. Also based off of a YouTube channel by the same name, the quotes are organized by topics ranging from Jurassic Park movies to Church picnics (where one of my favorite quotes is) to the Pittsburgh Steelers and everything else in between. Highly recommend for a quick, funny read and as a gift for anyone hilarious.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22698568-the-invasion-of-the-tearling" target="_blank">Invasion of the Tearling (Queen of the Tearling Series #2)</a> by Erika Johansen</div>
<div>
This is the first series I've had to wait for since Harry Potter (I had to wait for Allegiant, but I was able to read the first two Divergent books back to back). Anyway, I was first intrigued when my friend Macie told me about the first book last summer when Emma Watson, Hermione herself, signed on to produce and star in the movie. The first book is enthralling, albeit slow. The second book of the series moves much quicker and we start getting answers. Thrilled for the third book and the movies to come out so I can get more answers.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22918050-the-heir" target="_blank">The Heir (The Selection #4)</a> by Kiera Cass</div>
<div>
The Selection series is the epitome of a guilty pleasure. The books are well written and the characters from the first three books (and e-novellas) are so much fun to read. However, this fourth installment follows America and Maxen's daughter. She's self-centered, spoiled beyond belief considering who her parents were in the first three books, and changes entirely too rapidly in the end. It was a fun summer read, especially because I love this series and it gave one more glimpse into Illea, but it's definitely not America's Selection...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8123162-paper-towns" target="_blank">Paper Towns</a> by John Green</div>
<div>
I loved The Fault in Our Stars last year (book and movie) so the more I saw the movie previews for Paper Towns, the more I wanted to read the book - especially before the movie comes out. I was engrossed. The mystery surrounding selfish Margot Roth Spiegleman (and yes, you have to say her full name) is so interesting. I had to know what happened. My thoughts mirrored Quentin's throughout the book as he worked tirelessly to solve the mystery. In the end, I was a little let down, but overall I really enjoyed it. It's no Fault, but for my second John Green book, it was pretty good.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Love this link up, so I'll be back next month to tell you all about the books I read this month! Also, <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/4646054-frances" target="_blank">follow me on GoodReads</a> to follow what I'm reading and what I've been reading the rest of the year!</div>

I'm still alive. I made it through grad school in one piece and am on the hunt for a big girl job! I'd do an update on life, but it's been FOREVER since I last posted, so I'm just going to jump right in with a link up (with <a href="http://www.heleneinbetween.com/" target="_blank">Helene in Between</a>)!<br />
<br />
<div align="center">
</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.heleneinbetween.com/" title="Helene in Between"><img alt="Helene in Between" src="http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/a595/helenesula/linkup_know_zpsdd7aocx7.jpg" style="border: none;" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div>
- I, like Helene, play by the rules. I didn't drink until the week before I turned 21 at my birthday party (and I only did that because my birthday was on graduation that year and I wanted to celebrate with my friends who were graduating that year).<br />
<br />
- I have never gotten a ticket (unless you count a TCU parking ticket... and I don't). It's probably because I play by the rules.<br />
<br />
- I am VERY sensitive and take things personally more than I should.<br />
<br />
- I'd really like to write a book, but I don't know what it would be about. But I do have a title. And just last night at Happy Hour, someone offered to write a foreword for it if I ever do write said book.<br />
<br />
- I have a carb addiction. It can't be tamed, much like Miley Cyrus.<br />
<br />
- My television interests range from pre-teen girl (Girl Meets World, anyone?) to trashy reality (Kardashians, I just can't quit you) to HBO (It's been 4 days and I'm STILL not over the Game of Thrones finale).<br />
<br />
- I have a really hard time making it through the day without a nap.<br />
<br />
- I'm a really picky eater. REALLY. Picky.<br />
<br />
- I suffer from EXTREME FOMO. I hate missing things, but I also like sleep, so this causes great anxiety in my life.<br />
<br />
- Until grad school, I saw almost every single movie I wanted to in theaters. Then grad school took over my life and I didn't have time to.<br />
<br />
- I'm a new avid reader. Currently reading: Invasion of the Tearling, sequel to Queen of the Tearling.<br />
<br />
- I almost adopted another corgi in May. Seriously, I was *THIS* close to leaving my internship one Monday to go to Dallas to get him.<br />
<br />
- I'm starting to get Wanderlust and I never thought I would so it's a really new feeling for me.<br />
<br />
- "Comparison is the thief of joy," is something I have to remind myself HOURLY because I'm so bad about comparing myself to others.<br />
<br />
Anyone else relate to any of my random facts?<br />

<br />
I am still here out in the blogosphere. Just juggling life, interning, and grad school.<br />
<br />
I graduate in a little over 120 days though, y'all. I'm pumped. My goal is to blog more and since I technically only have two real classes, it shouldn't be too difficult. But the third class is my master's project, so I could be totally wrong. Either way, 120-sh days and I'll be back to regular blogging. I hope.<br />
<br />
I hope your 2015 is off to a fantastic start!<br />

Yay!<br />
<br />
Can you believe October is already almost over?! Blows my mind. Anyway, it's Friday and here are 5 things I'm totally pumped about!<br />
<br />
1. Nina Pham, a fellow TCU 2010 alum, is on her way home and is Ebola-free! I don't know her personally, but we have a ton of friends in common and were in the same graduation ceremony, back in the day. Plus her dog is TOTES ADORBS!!! Congrats to Nina! I hope the rest of your recovery is smooth sailing and you and Bentley reunite soon.<br />
<br />
2. Speaking of TCU, my Frog football team is off to a 5-1 start and in Big 12 title contention in just our third year in the league. My mom is coming in tomorrow for the game against Texas Tech and next weekend we go to Morgantown to face off against West Virginia, which I think will be our toughest game remaining on the schedule. Go frogs! Keep up the great work.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7deEi0TnbZ8/TqGYx26LxgI/AAAAAAAAAlg/tp7mHC9OpAk/s1600/ncf_g_superfrog_300.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7deEi0TnbZ8/TqGYx26LxgI/AAAAAAAAAlg/tp7mHC9OpAk/s1600/ncf_g_superfrog_300.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
3. Spirit Jerseys. If you haven't gotten one yet, do yourself a favor. I know they're almost $50, but they're the MOST comfortable shirts ever. Yoga pants and Spirit Jerseys are my go-to fall weekend outfit. Don't hate.<br />
<br />
4. Steel City Pops. I went Wednesday for the first time and wow. They have locations in Fort Worth and Dallas (and other places?) so if you're in DFW, go soon! I got the Chocolate and was NOT disappointed. My boss made fun of me for my "boring" choice because they have such interesting flavors (Maple Bacon something yummy?), but the shop girl was like "no, it's REALLY good."<br />
<br />
5. Kansas City Royals. In the World Series for the first time in my life. The last time they made it was when they won in 1984(5?). A girl got a corgi a few weeks ago because they won in the post season on their way to the Fall Classic. One of their pitchers played for TCU in the College World Series this year (first played to be in CWS and Fall Classic in same year). AND I've got family in KC. So, I've jumped on the Royals bandwagon. I feel like those are pretty legit reasons.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TmkIe6rer1U/TQ7wxZ639XI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/WqsClZpozyk/s1600/images.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TmkIe6rer1U/TQ7wxZ639XI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/WqsClZpozyk/s1600/images.jpeg" /></a></div>
<br />
What are you pumped about this week?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I've been waiting anxiously for your arrival! It's going to be a jam-packed month o' FUN!!! :)<br />
<br />
This weekend: Friday night is the So You Think You Can Dance Tour with my mom. We skipped last year (it was the same weekend as a friend's wedding out of town, boo), so I'm really excited! Plus, I LOVE RICKY UBEDA. Oh and we might be seeing a movie called <i>Gone Girl</i> this afternoon. Have you heard of it? I can't wait! I think Ben Affleck is going to PERFECTION at playing Nick Dunne.<br />
Saturday is tailgating and playing Oklahoma! Go frogs!!! And Sunday night a wonderful artist by the name of Jason DeRulo is performing on campus. FOR FREE (for students and a plus one). So my friend Maggie (who loves Jason) and I are going to that to dance the night away. I also told her to make a move on him since he and Jordin Sparks are splitsky right now.<br />
<br />
Next weekend, my grad school bestie, Caty, is getting married! I'll experience my first Catholic wedding so that'll be cool. Then we'll dance the night away and celebrate C&J! TCU will be playing Baylor in Waco which should be a crazy game.<br />
<br />
The weekend after that, I'll head east for the Texas Rose Festival's Cirque de la Rose themed festivities for my seester. I saw the headdress of her costume last weekend and it is GORGEOUS. She named it Gordo. Pictures to come, guys. I can't wait to tell you all about it! I'll have to follow football from my phone since TCU will be taking on Oklahoma State for the first time in the Fort since joining the Big 12.<br />
<br />
Then the last weekend of October should be somewhat relaxing and enjoyable since TCU will be playing Texas Tech. So hello, tailgates! And go frogs, as always.<br />
<br />
And then, it'll be HALLOWEEN!<br />
<br />
And THEN, I will be presenting a paper I wrote last semester on Social TV at a conference on social media hosted in Fort Worth by Tarleton State University. Yep, my paper got accepted to a conference! Crazy and exciting.<br />
<br />
So here's to October and the beginning of November!<br />
<br />
Also countdown to graduation is around 217 days right now. Not that I'm so excited for my birthday (27 sounds so old), but I'm beyond ready to have my Masters and be done with school.<br />
<br />
Hope all is well with you in Blogland!<br />

My goal to blog more during school is failing miserably, so far, but I thought I'd offer up some random thoughts...<br>
<br>
Nappy was about 2 inches away from catching a squirrel this morning. I thought it was a rat. I know squirrels and rats are basically the same animal, but I was relieved when I saw it was a squirrel. Since squirrels live in trees I think they're slightly cleaner animals. Flawed reasoning? Probably, but whatever.<br>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wOu4DhBuviM/TlJe1LTkaHI/AAAAAAAAAfQ/2iIhkTmuebw/s1600/July182011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wOu4DhBuviM/TlJe1LTkaHI/AAAAAAAAAfQ/2iIhkTmuebw/s1600/July182011.jpg" height="320" width="240"></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">#throwbacktuesday</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br>
I'm taking an ethics class this semester and it's kicking my butt. It's SOOOO philosophical and I've never taken a philosophy class before so it's really taking its toll on me already. Any suggestions on how to handle a philosophy class? Or if you've taken ethics, how did you handle it?<br>
<br>
I need more silverware. I run the dishwasher more than necessary because I'm out of silverware. So annoying. #Firstworldproblems?<br>
<br>
Dax Shepherd and Kristen Bell are in a Samsung table commercial and it might be the cutest ad ever made. Look it up, y'all. You won't regret it.<br>
<br>
So, the building my classes are in is connected by an atrium and a name to the arts building. At the beginning of every semester, random new art pops up around the atrium and on some concrete slabs outside. This week a cornucopia popped up, so I have to wonder, is TCU hosting the Hunger Games and no one told me?! Where's Katniss?<br>

<br>
The Mindy Project starts its third season tonight. It might be my favorite comedy on TV right now. I just love Mindy Kaling.<br>

I do really want to do a summer recap, but I guess my countdown post might have to count as that for now... Anyway, A for effort today as I <a href="http://acompletewasteofmakeup.com/" target="_blank">link up for Sunday Social</a>!<br />

<b style="background-color: white; font-family: Merriweather; line-height: 18px;">1. What are you most looking forward to about fall? </b><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: Merriweather;"><span style="line-height: 18px;">Classes, but not the work (necessarily); college football (go frogs!); my sister being in Rose Festival in October; the first season of the college football playoff!; the fair; the SYTYCD tour!; weddings; TV shows starting back up!</span></span></span><br />

I also wish I had studied a little harder. My grades were awful freshman year and I spent the rest of my time making it up to balance out my GPA. </span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Merriweather; line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Merriweather; line-height: 18px;">4. In my major, I took a Corporate Social Responsibility class (which I get to take again this semester!) and it was all about how companies give back to their communities in different ways to keep up appearances and be good citizens.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Merriweather; line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Merriweather; line-height: 18px;">5. Especially since I've been SUPER M.I.A. in blog-landia.<br />
<br />
<b><i>11</i></b> books I've read from start to finish so far this summer. Wanna be my friend on GoodReads? Got a book suggestions for me?<br />
<br />
<b><i>10</i></b> days until school starts. This will be my last year of school. I will not get a Ph.D. God bless those of you who do.<br />
<br />
<b><i>9</i></b> weeks since I moved into my new (quieter) apartment.<br />
<div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My "gallery wall." Still not 100% on it...</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<b><i>8</i></b> years since I started my Freshman year of college - what the WHAT?!</div>
<div>
<br />
<b><i>7</i></b> years since I was a Deb. Now my sister is! Can't wait for October (Texas Rose Festival)!!!</div>
<div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<b><i>6</i></b> days since the Hot Mess Express Weekend of 2014 (my friend Brigitte came to Fort Worth for the first time in almost 2 years. 3 nights straight of going out. I'm still pooped!)</div>

<i><b>5</b></i> months until my last semester of school <i>ever</i> starts.<br />
<br />
<b><i>4</i></b> times I've seen Lady Gaga now. I've seen her every time she's come to Dallas. Love or hate her personally, she puts on a damn good show and it's worth every penny of that ticket. Plus there's EXCELLENT people watching.</div>

Today is the Summer Soltice, aka the longest day of the entire year! Seriously, it's legit. It would also have been my grandmother's 87th birthday if she were still with us. What an awesome birthday, amiright?<br />
<br />
Anyway, to kick off the greatest season of the year (the beginning of any season is always the best though), I thought I'd give you a playlist of the songs I can't get enough of and I will probably continue to be listening to on repeat.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Some people might be tired of this, but I'm still car dancing and rapping right along with ZERO shame whatsoever. Iggy is my new favorite. She's fantastic. And fancy, obviously.<br />
<br />
"Chandelier" by Sia<br />
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" height="40" id="gsSong4086736729" name="gsSong4086736729" width="250"><param name="movie" value="http://grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf" /><param name="wmode" value="window" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="flashvars" value="hostname=grooveshark.com&songID=40867367&style=metal&p=0" /><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf" width="250" height="40"><param name="wmode" value="window" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="flashvars" value="hostname=grooveshark.com&songID=40867367&style=metal&p=0" /><span><a href="http://grooveshark.com/search/song?q=Sia%20Chandelier" title="Chandelier by Sia on Grooveshark">Chandelier by Sia on Grooveshark</a></span></object></object><br />
The first time I heard this song I was watching the video because one of the girls from Dance Moms is featured in it. I wasn't too hooked, but then after watching a recreation of the video on Ellen and then Lena Dunham's rendition of the video on Late Night with Seth Meyers, I was hooked. It's a party girl anthem, let's be real. I'm sure there's some other meaning, especially with the video in play, but I'm going to enjoy the shallow, surface level interpretation shamelessly.<br />
<br />
"Boom Clap" by Charli XCX<br />

Thank to The Fault in Our Stars previews I think we've all heard a little bit of this song. Again, I wasn't totally sold the first time I heard the whole song, but it's grown on me so much and I can't stop listening!<br />
<br />
"A Sky Full of Stars" by Coldplay<br />

Coldplay's new album came out about a month ago and this song was featured in Target's ads for the album. The whole album is absolute greatness. I can't wait to see Coldplay live again. I wish they'd hurry up and announce full tour details!<br />
<br />
"Work" by Iggy Azalea<br />
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" height="40" id="gsSong383439892" name="gsSong383439892" width="250"><param name="movie" value="http://grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf" /><param name="wmode" value="window" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="flashvars" value="hostname=grooveshark.com&songID=38343989&style=metal&p=0" /><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf" width="250" height="40"><param name="wmode" value="window" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="flashvars" value="hostname=grooveshark.com&songID=38343989&style=metal&p=0" /><span><a href="http://grooveshark.com/search/song?q=Iggy%20Azalea%20Work" title="Work by Iggy Azalea on Grooveshark">Work by Iggy Azalea on Grooveshark</a></span></object></object><br />
Ok, seriously, girl is talented. This is based on her life story and it's amazing. It makes you want to get up and dance. Hard. Get REAL sweaty kind of dance.<br />

I've posted about Mystic before - it's one of my all time favorite places. I might be old now, in camp terms anyway, but I'll always be a camper at heart.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UXzDteKGgjI/U5HM_9R3WGI/AAAAAAAACOo/Meb45-kpzuE/s1600/SkyHigh.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UXzDteKGgjI/U5HM_9R3WGI/AAAAAAAACOo/Meb45-kpzuE/s1600/SkyHigh.jpg" height="288" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
1. Tribe Drawings is still one of the most nerve-wracking nights of your life.<br />
<br />
2. You crave Blue Bell ice cream every day after lunch during the summer.<br />
<br />
3. You've seen the sun rise from Sky High (pictured above).<br />
<br />
4. You love the sight of the Mystic sign when driving down Highway 39.<br />
<br />
5. You can recite camp cheers and songs in your sleep.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJ8HvOpJBqtkIXLsxgYrgMdA_7g39pPznpzRGya1FLga_JAjNOnfNi7tIYioirhCz5fTb4t4GR960tOIGTd7tq7KjmlSTfF7Ehi4q3-odPzYHwGp3e_O5w59j4bYX_HGUdOCn9x_o8PFF7/s1600/CIMG0410.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJ8HvOpJBqtkIXLsxgYrgMdA_7g39pPznpzRGya1FLga_JAjNOnfNi7tIYioirhCz5fTb4t4GR960tOIGTd7tq7KjmlSTfF7Ehi4q3-odPzYHwGp3e_O5w59j4bYX_HGUdOCn9x_o8PFF7/s1600/CIMG0410.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
6. You crave Mystic birthday cake and consider refrigerating your birthday cake every year.<br />
<br />
7. You dream about getting married on the banks of the Guadalupe River.<br />
<br />
8. You can correctly spell and pronounce Guadalupe thanks to KT Info.<br />
<br />
9. You know that a walking or running a mile at camp is from the Office to the Gate to Bug House and back to the Office.<br />
<br />
10. Climbing Senior Hill is both the most exhausting and fun thing in the world.<br />
<br />
11. Same applies to Tribe Hill.<br />
<br />
12. You've taken Tribe Hill for granted and miss it dearly when you don't go up there twice a week.<br />
<br />
13. You've tried to predict CC Day (so well, in fact, that the Big 3 have had to move it no less than three times).<br />
<br />
14. You know that CC might actually stand for Camper-Counselor, but it could also be Crazy Chaos or Coke and Candy.<br />
<br />
15. You've eaten at the Hunt Store (yum).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOnrZAyzdAyOeqG_HVIZJ-Kf9hAAlQNfDBOjkZ7DUZaQWelaD48u3se1YjU74R3ytAoS4Kz0Ujow-1DyaSYD3SKYrfZVH3j9pf5D8KELAMHk4EBu9EJAO99tu-W5ltHF-pfwEZ_Ibv2UZn/s1600/The-Hunt-Store-1140x350.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOnrZAyzdAyOeqG_HVIZJ-Kf9hAAlQNfDBOjkZ7DUZaQWelaD48u3se1YjU74R3ytAoS4Kz0Ujow-1DyaSYD3SKYrfZVH3j9pf5D8KELAMHk4EBu9EJAO99tu-W5ltHF-pfwEZ_Ibv2UZn/s1600/The-Hunt-Store-1140x350.jpg" height="98" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
16. You've gone to James Avery Headquarters in Kerrville and reveled in the freezing cold A/C.<br />
<br />
17. You look forward to living without air conditioning in the middle of the Texas heat.<br />
<br />
18. Coffee Cake is on Saturday mornings.<br />
<br />
19. You've memorized the term schedule down to the food you'll eat on the last night: Messy Face Cake for dessert!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SB0p490xv2c/U5HTvQLXDkI/AAAAAAAACPI/SujuaGe2H1Y/s1600/DSCI0006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SB0p490xv2c/U5HTvQLXDkI/AAAAAAAACPI/SujuaGe2H1Y/s1600/DSCI0006.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
20. You know what a Messy Face Cake is and what it's for.<br />
<br />
21. You ended up going to college with at least one of your cabin mates even if you didn't intend on doing so.<br />
<br />
22. It doesn't take you very long to turn any TNM song on the radio into a camp acceptable song.<br />
<br />
23. You know what TNM stands for.<br />
<br />
24. At one time you feared the phrase "U for You," but learned to laugh at it with your counselors.<br />
<br />
25. You keep in touch with your counselors as much as you keep in touch with your cabin mates.<br />
<br />
26. You're convinced that your age group's memories of camp are better than any other age group's.<br />
<br />
27. You've held your breath during War Canoe Races.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kusheE-lzIk/U5HTSzeJTgI/AAAAAAAACPA/_42jdMB40rE/s1600/DSCI0212.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kusheE-lzIk/U5HTSzeJTgI/AAAAAAAACPA/_42jdMB40rE/s1600/DSCI0212.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
28. You know that War Canoe bruises are intense and take all summer to fully heal.<br />
<br />
29. At a certain point, you've memorized the other tribe's cheers and songs, but you're not totally sure when that happened.<br />
<br />
30. You've looked for your family member's name on the ceiling of Idiot's Delight and Memory Trail.<br />
<br />
31. You've left your mark on camp grounds somewhere... possibly against Tribe Training Rules.<br />
<br />
32. Ten years later, you still have and remember inside jokes with your cabin.<br />
<br />
33. You've tried to skip Tribe Period. And failed.<br />
<br />
34. You're upset that you miss at least one major movie opening weekend every year.<br />
<br />
35. Giving up your cell phone for a month sounds terrible, but it's really not so bad being unplugged and in the Mystic Bubble.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oXuNenQBzN4/U5HUOIC-jMI/AAAAAAAACPQ/EKUYSjDKy9U/s1600/DSCI0386.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oXuNenQBzN4/U5HUOIC-jMI/AAAAAAAACPQ/EKUYSjDKy9U/s1600/DSCI0386.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
36. Blood makes the grass grow and Bombardment is not a joke. Not even CC Bombardment.<br />
<br />
37. You've had to promise your non-camp friends that it's not really a cult.<br />
<br />
38. You're always on the look out for cute whites for Sunday.<br />
<br />
39. Wearing your charm bracelet on Sundays is like carrying a small child with one hand.<br />
<br />
40. This list was entirely too long but you can still think of at least 15 more things to add to it.<br />
<br />
Anything I should add? Anything pertain to your camp from my list?<br />

For the first time in my life. I have never watched (or been interested in) the Bachelor/ette series. I'm still not really... Anyway, here are some of my thoughts from the first three weeks of the show.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-S3PZJTRPtP0/U41EjU22glI/AAAAAAAACOM/Vq3lpAjg8K8/s1600/images.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-S3PZJTRPtP0/U41EjU22glI/AAAAAAAACOM/Vq3lpAjg8K8/s1600/images.jpeg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I question my life choices.<br />
They're casting in Fort Worth at the end of this month...<br />
I might be considering going.<br />
I might not. Who knows?<br />
Andi is precious. I want to be her friend.<br />
I think I'm too normal to be on this show.<br />
Eric is cute. I'm sad he died.<br />
Marcus is cute. He's from Dallas. If he's still single, I should hit that up.<br />
<a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/style-blog/wp/2014/05/29/cracking-the-bachelorette-code-want-to-find-love-go-to-grad-school/?tid=hpModule_1f58c93a-8a7a-11e2-98d9-3012c1cd8d1e" target="_blank">The Washington Post linked success of Bachelor/ette relationships to grad school</a>. So maybe I'll finish grad school before I audition.<br />
I still think I'm too normal.<br />
Marcus is so great.<br />
Why the hell has she kept Tasos and Cody around for so long?<br />
Tasos plans weddings. That's all I'm gonna say.<br />
Cody is a beefcake and needs to go. Somehow he hasn't yet. Maybe he's got a great personality? Just not my type, looks-wise.<br />
Marcus.<br />
Chris Harrison is so annoying.<br />
What if Marcus is the next Bachelor?<br />
Maybe I should go to the casting call...<br />
Marcus. Dallas. Dallas. Marcus. So cute.<br />
<br />
These are things going through my head. Sometimes they make it to Twitter, so follow me (FMK88).<br />
<br />
Do you watch the Bachelor/ette? How long have you watched?<br />

I will also be another year old: 26.<br />
<br />
25 has been my favorite year so far. It's had its highs and lows; what year doesn't? But for the most part, it's been an amazing year.<br />
<br />
Anyway, when these two weeks are up, I will return to blogging and hopefully have some fun summer adventures to tell you all about. Until the, I'm writing lots of papers and presenting all the papers.<br />
<br />
I don't want to wish my life away, but if these next two weeks could hurry up and move along a little more quickly, that'd be great!<br />
<br />
Also, I think my blog is about 4 years old this week or next, but I don't really have time to look... Such is the grad school life.<br />

In fact, it's Good Friday! I hope you all have wonderful plans to eat lots of good food (and candy) with your families and enjoy the Easter holiday. Easter is one of my favorite holidays and has the best food: DEVILED EGGS. Yum.<br />
<br />
Anyway, I'm here to bring you some of the important pop culture highlights of the week!<br />
<br />
1. Mila Kunis made her first appearance since the announcement that she and Ashton Kutcher were expecting this past weekend at the MTV Movie Awards. She wore black and tried to conceal the baby bump, but we all know it's there. Is anyone else as excited as I am that Jackie and Kelso are a real-life thing and they're having a baby?!<br />

'https://' : 'http://') + 'giphy.com/static/js/widgets/embed.js';var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(g, s);</script><br />
<br />
<br />
2. In Game of Thrones news (Spoiler alert if you haven't watched last week's episode yet), we finally got some sort of justice for the disaster that was the Red Wedding. It was the Purple Wedding. Joffrey and Margaery finally got married, only for the brat that sits the Iron Throne to be poisoned and choke to death. Now Margaery has been Queen twice only to have her King killed before consummation... Oops.<br />
<br />

'https://' : 'http://') + 'giphy.com/static/js/widgets/embed.js';var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(g, s);</script><br />
<br />
3. Max Greenfield guest starred on one of my personal favorite shows, The Mindy Project, this week. He was not Schmidt, but a slimey, possibly married guy Mindy hooked up with at Peter's urging. Can we all agree that the addition of Peter Prentis to the Mindy Project has been fantastic? Love his and Mindy's dynamic.<br />

<br />
4. The season finale of Scandal was last night. I don't know what happened though because I don't watch it. Am I the only one? I think so...<br />
<br />
5. For one of my classes this semester, I am researching Social TV, aka when you post on social media while watching your favorite TV shows. If you are an active Social TV viewer, <a href="https://tcu.co1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_ekwWBAvB8oMRvEN" target="_blank">please consider taking my survey</a>. The survey is closing Sunday morning, but I'd love it if I could get 50 participants before it closes. Thanks so much!<br />
<br />

I posted the first one last Friday and due to my lack of planning and absolutely 110% lazy day yesterday, I failed on that, haha. But I'm here today to resurrect it! Here are some big pop culture happenings from the week!<br />
<br />
1. <i>Allegiant</i>, the third and final installment of the <i>Divergent</i> series, will be split into two movies. While I haven't been totally on board with all of the splitting of final books into two movies (read: I don't think <i>Mockingjay</i> needs to be two movies, but whatevs), I think this is actually a great idea. Having just read <i>Allegiant</i> when it came out in October, I agree with this move. There is a lot of action covered in the third book, so a split will be necessary to cover it all in the movie.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Z5ZFGoGcQO0/U0lw1oyo7WI/AAAAAAAACNI/utQR9ngiJAE/s1600/10616322.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Z5ZFGoGcQO0/U0lw1oyo7WI/AAAAAAAACNI/utQR9ngiJAE/s1600/10616322.jpg" height="320" width="229" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
2. Johnny Depp was subpoenaed while at the premiere for his new movie <i>Transcendence</i>. Can you say AWKWARD? A woman was killed after another woman hit her on the way to see Depp, allegedly. Depp will have to testify in court and prove that he does not know the woman.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgszuAce5EsMoA4zlfnlVppwtYaf4GUeUEvoBj4UKFe51VBXzTNZTsd-iOfC33mWqB3PEw6j-6D3jYrOM-iHxf_Vwla65fc2cZugZwVqwiSAde4lEmEi7TC_qZtP-fzoKB-SG8r5bfPW5r/s1600/tumblr_mqp75w5NsW1s88ss5o1_1280.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgszuAce5EsMoA4zlfnlVppwtYaf4GUeUEvoBj4UKFe51VBXzTNZTsd-iOfC33mWqB3PEw6j-6D3jYrOM-iHxf_Vwla65fc2cZugZwVqwiSAde4lEmEi7TC_qZtP-fzoKB-SG8r5bfPW5r/s1600/tumblr_mqp75w5NsW1s88ss5o1_1280.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I'll use any reason to look at this picture...</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
3. After 8 years, Chelsea Handler is calling it quits on her E! talk show, <i>Chelsea Lately</i>. I was REALLY hoping after Letterman announced his retirement from the <i>Late Show</i> next year that Handler would be the first woman in network late night, but I was wrong. For now.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-R7CMDESJ02o/U0lyhnxKWQI/AAAAAAAACNc/NUG9yAHJtRU/s1600/chelsea-handler-900-600-jpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-R7CMDESJ02o/U0lyhnxKWQI/AAAAAAAACNc/NUG9yAHJtRU/s1600/chelsea-handler-900-600-jpg.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
4. As mentioned above, David Letterman will be stepping down from the <i>Late Show</i>. Stephen Colbert will be replacing him... Not in character, but as himself. The real Stephen Colbert.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CmPd0kUGlvg/U0lzGF9JEMI/AAAAAAAACNk/uc2eiHTkchk/s1600/colbert-on-letterman-in-2010.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CmPd0kUGlvg/U0lzGF9JEMI/AAAAAAAACNk/uc2eiHTkchk/s1600/colbert-on-letterman-in-2010.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
5. Hello, 90's Nostalgia! The first commercial for <i>Girl Meets World</i>, the sort-of sequel to fan favorite <i>Boy Meets World</i>, debuted this week. I. Can. Not. Wait.<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/QqWGc2SFWI8" width="560"></iframe><br />

Well, I'm here to tell you a few of the most important things going on in the world of pop culture!<br />
<br />
1. The long running show, <i>How I Met Your Mother</i>, ended this week after nine seasons. Without giving away any spoilers, I will say that many fans were disappointed, myself included. It doesn't negate the legen-wait for it-dariness of the show as a whole though. At least not for this blogger.<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="551" mozallowfullscreen="" src="https://giphy.com/embed/mHEes6Quf8XK0?playOnHover=true" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="500"></iframe><br />
<br />
2. <i>Game of Thrones</i> returns for its fourth season this Sunday night. To prepare, HBO2 is hosting a #TaketheTrone marathon for the 60 hours leading up to the show's 8pm (central) season premiere. That means HBO2 is showing the first three seasons (30 episodes) twice. If you haven't started watching yet, now is an excellent time to pour yourself a <strike>bottle</strike> glass of wine and start. Binge Watching for the win!<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="265" mozallowfullscreen="" src="https://giphy.com/embed/1iAQLpW2DRW2k?playOnHover=true" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="500"></iframe><br />
<br />
3. Another show made its return to our screens this past Tuesday. <i>The Mindy Project</i> returned to record low ratings, which is absolutely insane because it is hands down one of the best shows on TV right now. Mindy Kaling is one of the funniest comedians of our time and if you haven't read her book or watched the show, I highly suggest you do it right now.<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="300" mozallowfullscreen="" src="https://giphy.com/embed/ZOLcVvXARqWk0?playOnHover=true" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="500"></iframe><br />
<br />
4. Speaking of <i>Game of Thrones</i>, Gwendoline Christie, otherwise known as Brienne of Tarth has joined the cast of <i>The Hunger Games: Mockingjay 2</i>. Christie will join fellow cast member, Natalie Dormer as Commander Lyme, who doesn't sound too far from Brienne. If you're not sold, watch <i>Game of Thrones</i> and see Brienne take on a bear (almost) single handedly in season 3.<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="367" mozallowfullscreen="" src="https://giphy.com/embed/7wOGAdUeht3oY?playOnHover=true" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="500"></iframe><br />
<br />
5. And in somewhat creepy news, James Franco tried to pick up an underage (for only a few more months) girl in Instagram. This morning on <i>Live with Kelly and Michael</i>, he said made a vague statement about it without directly addressing it. Kind of sketchy, but good PR on his move to go ahead and deal with it, in my opinion.<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="270" mozallowfullscreen="" src="https://giphy.com/embed/qZmgJQukQveqQ?playOnHover=true" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="500"></iframe><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I've had an alarm set every morning of mine so far. So Now I'm feeling a little whiny.<br />
<br />
Saturday, I had a paper due that night, so I got up to finish it and turn it in early. I also had other stuff to do before I came to my mom's for a few days.<br />
<br />
Sunday, I set my alarm to do some more homework and the time had changed. However, I like Springing Forward because the sun doesn't disappear at 5 pm and it's one step closer to summer. I'd rather lose that hour that gain it back in the fall. And this winter has been miserable. I think most of you would agree with me on that. If I can't handle this winter in Texas, there's no way I can ever move further North. Sorry.<br />
<br />
Monday, Nappy got groomed for the first time in nearly three months. Why do groomer's want you to drop your dog off so early? I don't understand. I did get to play with a sweet baby girl that afternoon, though, so that's always a plus. She even spit up on my hand, isn't that sweet? Definitely ignited the Baby Fever fire again even though I'm not ready. At all. I think I just know so many Preggos right now, I'm ready to play with babies for hours... Until they get fussy and/or need a diaper change. (Side note: I have never changed a diaper.)<br />
<br />
Today, I got my hair cut for the first time in months. Woah, did it need it! Then I stopped by my old work to drop off a baby gift since one of my co-workers is due next month and I'm missing her shower this week. Like I said: BABY FEVER. Good thing I have a pup to come play with at home.<br />
<br />
<br />
After that, I came home and had lunch and then went to a doctor's appointment. The dread building up was so much worse that the actual appointment. Ugh. But then I got to take the best nap I've taken in days.<br />
<br />
Tomorrow, I was planning on heading back West, but it's supposed to be windy and that would require setting another alarm, so I'm pushing it back a day. Not to mention, I get to see Lindsay one last time before BB comes! BB is due to make his grand appearance next Friday. I canNOT wait to meet this sweet boy. He has the best parents and a TON of people who already love and adore him. Again: BABY FEVER.<br />
<br />
Also, I finished reading Chelsea Handler's newest book, Uganda Be Kidding Me, and it's hilarious. I'm seeing her with a few of the grad school girls in two and a half weeks when she comes to Grand Prairie (between Dallas and Fort Worth) and I'm hoping the other girls will want to get books signed or take pictures because I'm dying to have my book signed. This will only be my second comedy tour (I saw Dane Cook 5 years ago and he was HILARIOUS - I mean, obviously). If you haven't picked it up yet, I highly recommend it. If you haven't read any of her books - DO IT NOW.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

</tbody></table>
<br />
I hope those of you out there that still get spring breaks are actually getting to enjoy your break. In grad school it's just a week where you do 9 more hours of work because I don't have to go to class every night...<br />
Fact.<br />

I don't know why. I think it's just the fashion. I'd love to get glammed up like the celebs and hang out with JLaw and BCoops. I mean, who wouldn't, right? So I feel like acknowledging the phenomenal style from last night is beyond necessary.<br />
<br />
Kate Hudson in Versace<br />

</tbody></table>
I love Lupita and she's been a knock-out all Awards Season, but Kate Hudson was THE Best Dressed of the night. She is absolutely stunning and I bet she was so proud of her past leading man, Matthew McConaughey winning Best Actor for Dallas Buyers Club.<br />
<br />
Lupita Nyong'o in Prada<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QtESlyJHCf8/UxSlrOvCVPI/AAAAAAAACLo/vrKodDLmKEg/s1600/lupita-nyongo-oscars-2014-red-carpet.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QtESlyJHCf8/UxSlrOvCVPI/AAAAAAAACLo/vrKodDLmKEg/s1600/lupita-nyongo-oscars-2014-red-carpet.jpg" /></a></td></tr>

</tbody></table>
Like I said, Lupita has looked amazeballs ALL Awards Season and she absolutely looked like a Princess on her Oscar-winning night. Girl turned 31 on Saturday, too. Happy birthday.<br />
<br />

P!nk STUNNED in this ruby red dress while singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" as part of the tribute to the Wizard of Oz, which celebrates 75 years this year. She knocked her performance and gown out of the park. I'm beyond obsessed with that dress. So perfect.<br />

I think I get *almost* as excited to see what G wears on the Red Carpet as I do for the A-list celebs. I love love LOVE this dress. I bet it has excellent twirl factor, too. So beautiful.<br />

I love her. I've loved her for almost 10 years. This navy with the tiny peplum (that her hands are covering, but it's there) was so beautiful and fit her SO well. She is just a knock out.<br />

No. Just NO. The Oscars is like going to the Royal Wedding. YOU DO <b><i><u>NOT</u></i></b> WEAR SHORTS TO THE ROYALS WEDDING. You don't make stupid fashion statements at the Oscars. You just DON'T. The hat would have been better. I can't wait to hear what Joan Rivers says about this on Fashion Police tonight. Because NO.<br />
<br />
Who was on your Best Dressed list? Who was your Worst Dressed?<br />

My stomach and sides hurt all. the. time. I thought my ribs were broken. It was terrible. Then I had a CAT Scan and found out I had an abscess on my ileum, aka the part of your intestines in the lower right quadrant of your abdomen. And then I got to spend 8 days in the hospital hooked up to an IV for antibiotics (and pain meds that first night).<br />
<br />

<br />
The past year has been full of lots of doctor visits and more pills than I can even attempt to count, but I have felt better in the past year than I have a long time. That's because I've been taking medication for Crohn's Disease, or Inflammatory Bowel Disease. It's an immune system problem where the lining of your intestine becomes inflamed basically because your body thinks it needs to be in some sort of altercation with it. That's what caused my abscess last year. Or that's what usually causes abscesses in that area of intestines.<br />
<br />
Normally, you need a colonoscopy to get a solid diagnosis of Crohn's, or the similarly related Ulcerative Colitis, but my doctor didn't want to upset things further while I was in the hospital and once I got out and the meds were working, he kind of just pushed it off more. So my diagnosis is super unofficial, but since the meds that treat Crohn's are working and I'm feeling good, he's pretty sure that's what's up with my intestines.<br />
<br />
Basically, although I felt so terrible for so long last year around this time, I'm actually insanely grateful that it happened because I feel so much better now. Happy one year, Crohn's Diagnosis. Let's keep it the way things are right now because right now, we're good and feeling great. Also, shout out to my fellow Horned Frog alum, Bob Schieffer, for his Colitis diagnosis I just learned about last week. Not only do we love purple for our school, but for our stupid disease (purple if the official color of the awareness ribbon).<br />
