Favorite Friday

Ok, I know I've been a bit of an Anglophile this week, but seriously, how can you not be if you love Harry Potter and were even the least bit interested in the Royal Wedding? As HP fans know, Warner Bros released a new trailer for the final movie. In one word it's EPIC. I have chills the whole time I watch it. Every time I watch it. My favorite parts are how broken the main theme sounds when it first starts, it's so cool, and the shot of Molly Weasley at the moment she is more than likely saying, "Not my daughter, you bitch!"

I seriously cannot wait for July 15. Kendall, Macie, and I will most definitely be there at midnight (along with Art and Kyle and anyone else that wants to go too). SO EXCITED.

Royal Name

In honor of the Royal Wedding, or should I say honour, I am AWAKE! It's lovely. I saw Sir Elton John and his partner, David, arrive earlier and I saw a picture of a very dapper Becks with the lovely Posh. Earlier this week I found a Royal Wedding Name Generator, thanks to E! Online. Get your name!

Mine was HM Queen Frances Pippa Keycock or Tylerford.

I also think Princess Frances of Wales the future Duchess of York has a lovely ring to it, so Prince Harry if you're out there... A girl can dream right?!

UPDATE: Catherine's dress is to die. New standard for me. I didn't think I'd love her dress so much, but I'm obsessed. Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen

The End of an Era

As some of you may know, tonight is Michael Scott (Steve Carell)'s last night on The Office. I blame my friend, Josh, for making us watch his DVDs of the show freshman year and getting me hooked and tonight very sad to see Michael go. I thought that in honor of Mr. Scott, I'd highlight a few of my favorite moments involving the infamous boss at the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin.

That's What She Said from Season 2, Sexual Harassment (sorry it's awful quality, the good one can't be embedded)

Abraham Lincoln Once Said... from Season 1 or 2, Diversity Day (again sorry for bad quality)

Prison Mike and the Dementors from Season 3, The Criminal

Bankruptcy from Season 4, Bankruptcy

Let's Get Ethical from Season 5, Business Ethics

What are some of your favorite Michael Scott moments?

Ginger Love.

"Being a ginger has plagued me my entire life. People say I smell like copper, I can get a sunburn indoors at night, and according to recent legend, I have no soul." - Emma Pillsbury, Glee, "Born This Way"

I cracked up at this quote. I don't understand society's sudden aversion to red heads, or gingers as 99% of people call them, because I have always loved them. Maybe it's because my maternal grandparents were both red heads and although I am definitely a brunette, I definitely inherited some red highlights and fair skin from them (Has anyone seen how long it takes me to get a good tan going?). My mom even wanted a red head when she was preggers with me.

Because I love gingers and feel that they are severely under appreciated, I thought I'd blog some Ginger Love. Let's start first with the world's most eligible bachelor, whom I blogged about last night: Prince Harry.
I mean, if you're on the cover of GQ magazine, you're clearly hot. Let's face it. If you're not a ginger lover, then just stare at him in black and white - good looking, right?

Now onto another beloved Ginger Brit: Rupert Grint, aka Ron Weasley. I think I've had a minor crush on Mr Grint since movie 2, when this sad picture was his promo shot.
Can we talk about what a precious child he was? I mean look at that face. And now, Mr. Grint looks a little something like this.

Maybe I love her for her style and excessive OCD, but we can't forget Miss Pillsbury for Glee herself.

And then of course, as any TCU football fan knows: No. 14 Andy Dalton.

I love gingers, readers, and I don't care who knows.

Royal Wedding Week is HERE!

Less than 4 days now, friends, until Kate Middleton becomes Princess Catherine of Wales. I'm one of the people who is really excited. So naturally, when I heard you could make a stamp of yourself as Brit Royalty on People Magazine's Facebook page, I jumped on it!

Oh yes, Princess Frances of Wales has a nice ring to it, right? Currently watching Wild About Prince Harry on TLC and I'm reminded of how cute he is! I've always thought he was cute!

I'm definitely going to be early Thursday night so I can wake up at 3 am (local time) to watch all the coverage! And I might have to break out one of my Rose Festival tiaras just to cheese it up. If I had one of those fabulous hats I'd wear that!

1 Year Blogiversary and Easter!

Yesterday was my 1 year blogiversary! I can't believe I've kept this thing up for an entire year! I must say I'm very proud of myself.

Now on to Easter. For as long as my dad and step-mom have been married (and a little before that), we have been dying Easter Eggs. In the past few years, we've started to make egg people. Yes, we dye the eggs and then draw on them to make them like people we know... or this year we may or may not have done (read: definitely made) Harry Potter eggs. The past few years Paas has slacked off though and stopped putting crayons in their dye kits so this has forced us into being creative (by making the egg people) or kind of burning us out (like this year, not the most fun year for dying eggs). Next year a kit will not be bought without the crayon. It adds a level of creativity if you ask me.

Note to self: Next year's dye kit MUST have a crayon to make fancy designs!

Any readers have traditions like my family does? I'd love to hear them!

Favorite Friday

You get a double dose of Favorite today!

Thanks to a few of the other blogs I follow and a few facebook friends, I've discovered Hyperbole and a Half. This girl is hilarious. She doesn't post super regularly, but when she does I feel like I've done a good ab work out by the end. Check her stuff out, like I said, she's pretty hilarious.

Also, I love Gaga, we know this. I've seen her twice now on the same tour. However, "Judas" is not a good song (read: not up to Gaga's standards. At. All.) and I've gotten really tired of "Born This Way." So when I came across this gem, I fell in love.

Stupid

This is perhaps the stupidest story I think I've ever read from a credible news source.

By now, bloggers I hope you realize I am slight in love with TCU football, especially a handful of the players that have just graduated (like Andy Dalton and Tyler's own Jake Kirkpatrick). So stay with me. It's not new news that Andy Dalton has red hair. Are we really still obsessing over this? Clearly.

An NFL coach says he’s concerned about whether TCU quarterback Andy Dalton can lead an NFL team — not because of the content of his character but because of the color of his hair.

SERIOUSLY? Dumb dumb dumb.

Hoover Fights Back

So as I'm sure most of you have heard, ABC is canceling two of their soap operas (All My Children and One Life to Live), one of which I happen to be somewhat invested in, thanks unemployment and my mom. Yes, soap operas are somewhat outdated - but how else can I thrive in the drama of others?! Reality TV isn't the same as a good old fashioned scripted drama in the form of day time TV: the soap opera. They're ancient - they were around BEFORE TV, guys. But they have HUGE followings. I personally, really like One Life to Live.

Anyway, Hoover is quite upset about this because their customers are upset. So what are they doing? Pulling their ads from all ABC programming. Can we say AWESOME? If other advertisers do this then this could really make an impact on ABC and they would have to change their minds about the soaps. I'd be much happier with 30 minutes of One Life to Live than none at all.

In addition to pulling their ads from the network, Hoover has set up an e-mail account (mentioned on their facebook page) for the soap lovers to e-mail their feelings and Hoover will make sure ABC receives every single word. It's pretty crazy stuff, but I think it's also pretty awesome.

I guess we'll just have to wait this one out and see if others follow or it blows up in Hoover's face. I hope other advertisers follow in Hoover's footsteps and speak up on behalf of their consumers.

What do you guys think?

Favorite Friday

One of the local news stations talked about this and my mom quickly became obsessed. For the past two weeks (at least) my mom has been checking up on these sweet eagles and their three babies in Iowa. Check out the live video and watch Mother Nature...

Royal Wedding Fever... They've Got It, Do You?

The royal wedding. I think we're ALL excited about it. I mean, I totally plan on waking up at whatever unGodly hour to watch it and if any of my friends want to, I'd probably be up for a watching party.

Anyway, I've gone corgi overload recently, but this ad was just TOO funny and cute not to post. I found it on a blog I shamelessly follow called the Daily Corgi, devoted to corgi lovers.

Ok, like I said, I know I've gone corgi overload, but aren't you glad I blogged this? Seriously adorable.

Cutest Couple

I know I've written about Tori Spelling before, so if you were around for that you have an inkling of how I love her. She and her husband, Dean, are seriously adorable. Tori announced some exciting news yesterday over Twitter yesterday: She's pregnant with their third child! If you've ever watched Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood, you know how hilarious Liam and Stella, their first two kids are. Seriously, Liam says the FUNNIEST things. Here's a video of them from Access Hollywood earlier today I'm guessing.

I loved the premier of their new show sToribook Weddings last week, but I'm ready for a sixth season of Home Sweet Hollywood now that she's preggers again. Hopefully soon they'll make another exciting announcement that it's coming back after the wedding planning gig?

Favorite Friday

I slacked off last week and forgot to do a Favorite Friday, but to be fair it was a Favorite Friday in the Fort because I spent time with some of my favorites! :) So today I'll give you two of my favorite commercials on TV right now. Can you guess why they're my favorite?

Spiffy

So I'm trying really hard to spiff up my blog, and for the most part I think it's pretty spiffy. But I still have a few questions. If any bloggers are out there that know of some good tutorial sites (specifically about changing fonts on my blog, the pages header, etc), please send them on to me in the comments section. I'd be a very happy girl!

Late Easter = Hard Lent

Ok, I honestly don't remember Easter EVER being this late. We've got 19 more days to go, for those of you who have given up something essential to your daily lives. And because Lent started so late/Easter is so late this year, I cannot remember when Lent started. I'm guessing we're about to head into week 4? I feel like I've given up Coke since January 1st and not the middle of March.

Today I broke. Totally on accident, but I feel AWFUL! There's a pizza place in town that my mom and I love to go to for lunch. We hadn't been there in a while, so today we decided to meet there on her lunch break. This place is one of the few places in Tyler that has Cherry Coke in their fountain. And is it delish. I LOVE Cherry Coke from a fountain, I don't know if I've ever told y'all that, but I'm almost obsessed. Yes, Sonic and Dairy Queen can add cherry flavor to their cokes, but there's nothing like a perfectly carbonated and mixed Cherry Coke from a fountain.

Anyway, I was SO on autopilot when I got to lunch that I didn't realize (until 30 minutes ago) I went over and completely ignored the Sprite and went for the Cherry Coke. I've been SO good, too! I don't remember Lent being this hard ever (except that one time freshman year at TCU I gave up being nosey, which is REALLY hard to do).

Is anyone else having as hard a time as I am with Lent this year?

Just What the Doctor Ordered?

A few days ago my friend Amanda over at My Own Beautiful Mess wrote about renewing her job search and not limiting herself this time around. While I don't quite want to leave my comfort zone like she has, her post and a weekend visit to good ol' Fort Worth made me realize that I've gotten a little too comfortable.

I don't mean comfortable in unemployment (which yes, I may be and I definitely don't like), but I've gotten too comfortable with the idea of staying in Tyler (which isn't totally a bad thing, but hear me out). When I first started my job search last summer, I looked for jobs only in Fort Worth. Slowly, I found myself looking about 50-50 in the Fort and Tyler. There were as many jobs here as there were there. I got comfortable with my friends in Tyler and started to think, 'Maybe it won't be so bad staying in Tyler. Maybe after a year or so I'll be able to get a job in Fort Worth. I just need experience.' And the experience thing is true, however I don't think I'll get it in Tyler. I need to broaden my search back to Fort Worth and maybe even Austin. Dallas is a definite "NO," although I know there's a lot there. I get too stressed driving in Dallas. Getting on 30 East is the easiest thing to do for me and it's such a relief when I do.

After this weekend in Fort Worth visiting with friends I hadn't seen in anywhere from 3 weeks to several months, I realized I need to broaden my search BIG TIME. I need to be uncomfortable again so I'll get into the job search. And I need to decide 100% if I'm going to camp again in June so I can either stop the search for the next few months or dive back in 5000% to the job search...
