Two Weeks

In two short (wishful thinking) weeks, I will be done with my first year of graduate school. I will also be another year old: 26.

25 has been my favorite year so far. It's had its highs and lows; what year doesn't? But for the most part, it's been an amazing year.

Anyway, when these two weeks are up, I will return to blogging and hopefully have some fun summer adventures to tell you all about. Until the, I'm writing lots of papers and presenting all the papers.

I don't want to wish my life away, but if these next two weeks could hurry up and move along a little more quickly, that'd be great!

Also, I think my blog is about 4 years old this week or next, but I don't really have time to look... Such is the grad school life.

Keys to Pop Culture This Week

It's Friday! In fact, it's Good Friday! I hope you all have wonderful plans to eat lots of good food (and candy) with your families and enjoy the Easter holiday. Easter is one of my favorite holidays and has the best food: DEVILED EGGS. Yum.

Anyway, I'm here to bring you some of the important pop culture highlights of the week!

1. Mila Kunis made her first appearance since the announcement that she and Ashton Kutcher were expecting this past weekend at the MTV Movie Awards. She wore black and tried to conceal the baby bump, but we all know it's there. Is anyone else as excited as I am that Jackie and Kelso are a real-life thing and they're having a baby?!

2. In Game of Thrones news (Spoiler alert if you haven't watched last week's episode yet), we finally got some sort of justice for the disaster that was the Red Wedding. It was the Purple Wedding. Joffrey and Margaery finally got married, only for the brat that sits the Iron Throne to be poisoned and choke to death. Now Margaery has been Queen twice only to have her King killed before consummation... Oops.

3. Max Greenfield guest starred on one of my personal favorite shows, The Mindy Project, this week. He was not Schmidt, but a slimey, possibly married guy Mindy hooked up with at Peter's urging. Can we all agree that the addition of Peter Prentis to the Mindy Project has been fantastic? Love his and Mindy's dynamic.

4. The season finale of Scandal was last night. I don't know what happened though because I don't watch it. Am I the only one? I think so...

5. For one of my classes this semester, I am researching Social TV, aka when you post on social media while watching your favorite TV shows. If you are an active Social TV viewer, please consider taking my survey. The survey is closing Sunday morning, but I'd love it if I could get 50 participants before it closes. Thanks so much!

Keys to Pop Culture This Week

I'm trying to make a weekly pop culture post a regular thing, guys. I posted the first one last Friday and due to my lack of planning and absolutely 110% lazy day yesterday, I failed on that, haha. But I'm here today to resurrect it! Here are some big pop culture happenings from the week!

1. Allegiant, the third and final installment of the Divergent series, will be split into two movies. While I haven't been totally on board with all of the splitting of final books into two movies (read: I don't think Mockingjay needs to be two movies, but whatevs), I think this is actually a great idea. Having just read Allegiant when it came out in October, I agree with this move. There is a lot of action covered in the third book, so a split will be necessary to cover it all in the movie.

2. Johnny Depp was subpoenaed while at the premiere for his new movie Transcendence. Can you say AWKWARD? A woman was killed after another woman hit her on the way to see Depp, allegedly. Depp will have to testify in court and prove that he does not know the woman.
I'll use any reason to look at this picture...
3. After 8 years, Chelsea Handler is calling it quits on her E! talk show, Chelsea Lately. I was REALLY hoping after Letterman announced his retirement from the Late Show next year that Handler would be the first woman in network late night, but I was wrong. For now.

4. As mentioned above, David Letterman will be stepping down from the Late Show. Stephen Colbert will be replacing him... Not in character, but as himself. The real Stephen Colbert.

5. Hello, 90's Nostalgia! The first commercial for Girl Meets World, the sort-of sequel to fan favorite Boy Meets World, debuted this week. I. Can. Not. Wait.

Keys to Pop Culture This Week

Been busy with school or work? Well, I'm here to tell you a few of the most important things going on in the world of pop culture!

1. The long running show, How I Met Your Mother, ended this week after nine seasons. Without giving away any spoilers, I will say that many fans were disappointed, myself included. It doesn't negate the legen-wait for it-dariness of the show as a whole though. At least not for this blogger.

2. Game of Thrones returns for its fourth season this Sunday night. To prepare, HBO2 is hosting a #TaketheTrone marathon for the 60 hours leading up to the show's 8pm (central) season premiere. That means HBO2 is showing the first three seasons (30 episodes) twice. If you haven't started watching yet, now is an excellent time to pour yourself a bottle glass of wine and start. Binge Watching for the win!

3. Another show made its return to our screens this past Tuesday. The Mindy Project returned to record low ratings, which is absolutely insane because it is hands down one of the best shows on TV right now. Mindy Kaling is one of the funniest comedians of our time and if you haven't read her book or watched the show, I highly suggest you do it right now.

4. Speaking of Game of Thrones, Gwendoline Christie, otherwise known as Brienne of Tarth has joined the cast of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay 2. Christie will join fellow cast member, Natalie Dormer as Commander Lyme, who doesn't sound too far from Brienne. If you're not sold, watch Game of Thrones and see Brienne take on a bear (almost) single handedly in season 3.

5. And in somewhat creepy news, James Franco tried to pick up an underage (for only a few more months) girl in Instagram. This morning on Live with Kelly and Michael, he said made a vague statement about it without directly addressing it. Kind of sketchy, but good PR on his move to go ahead and deal with it, in my opinion.
