August Jam Sesh

I just remembered it's the last Friday of the month! I've been so consumed with COLLEGE FOOTBALL starting this weekend that I forgot! In honor of college football, I'll be sharing my favorite songs to get me pumped for tailgating and cheering on my Frogs!

"I Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty
This is a TCU fan MUST. Our coach, the amazing Gary Patterson love him some Tom Petty and this song was on the team's playlist the first time we made a BCS Bowl (Fiesta Bowl after the 2009 season) and it's been a stadium playlist staple ever since.

Not only does this take me back to sixth grade, it takes me back to the '09 season to the Utah game when we dominated and sold out the stadium for the first time in years for a conference game. The whole stadium shook with excitement. AHHH! I can't wait to go to games again this year!

It's a must for the little guys, like TCU.

I officially have less than 24 hours until TCU and LSU kick off at AT&T (formerly Cowboys) Stadium. I won't be there, sadly, but I will be at home with Nappy wearing our purple (yes, I got my dog a jersey) and cheering loud: GO FROGS!!!

Are you excited for football season? What are you football season jams?

Spoiler Alert

So, I don't know if you guys watch Pretty Little Liars, but I do and last night was the mid season finale and a huge ass bomb was just dropped. I don't read the PLL books, not that I think they've stuck to them very closely, so I have NO idea what's happening. And I avoid spoilers at all costs.

Also, you've been warned by the title if you haven't yet or don't watch PLL, stop reading.

Last night, watching PLL, finding out Ezra is A or part of the REAL A team, I felt how Game of Thrones non book readers felt after the Red Wedding.

I love Ezra. I love Ezria. I'm so upset and heart broken and shocked and I don't even know. I don't think I can trust anyone on that show any more. AND Ali might still be alive?!

I just... I don't know. And now we have to wait for the Halloween episode (which is, thank God, two hours) and then wait for January for the mid season premier! UGH.

Damn, Ezra, how could you?
If you watch PLL, please leave your thoughts in a comment. I need to talk about this with as many people as possible. I'm just way upset. I just can't even fathom what's going on.

High Five for Friday!

I've officially finished week one of grad school! YAY! To celebrate, I'm linking up for High Five for Friday!
 photo H54Fbutton-1_zpsa7aaa665.png

1. In honor of my first week of grad school, I participated in #throwbackthursday on Instagram with this gem! My first day of kindergarten. Check out that hot uniform.

2. Last Friday, Nappy got a bath which means a new bed for his crate. I put the old bed out in the living room so I could vaccum it and save it for an emergency. He was so tired but afraid to go to his crate, that he laid on the old bed. He also got a new toy as a peace offering from me and I laid it on him for a picture. He was not amused, clearly.

3. ESPN Classic reran the Rose Bowl TCU won the other night from 11-1. Did I stay up to watch it? Hell yes. Until TCU goes to the national championship (preferably with me in the stadium) this will be the greatest game ever. Also, IS IT FOOTBALL SEASON YET?!

4. I've made the terrible decision that Fridays will be used for catching up on reading and hopefully preparing for the next week. Lame, maybe, but I'd really like to be great at grad school!

5. And finally, this is my room. Doesn't it look cozy? It is. My tempurpedic mattress is my best friend for life, sorry everyone else. I love it so much! I still have a little decorating to do, but my apartment is definitely coming together. Aside from my noisy upstairs neighbors, I'm loving apartment life so far!

BONUS: I saw the Mortal Instruments solo on Wednesday and really enjoyed it! I wasn't a huge fan of the book but I love Lily Collins so I was excited for the movie and was not disappointed! It's made me interested in the second book of the series... I don't know when I'll read it; maybe Christmas break?

How was your week?

RidiCARlous

You know what's ridiculous? Three issues with your car within three weeks. Especially when two of those things are within FOUR DAYS of each other!

Since moving to DFW, I've had two rock chips in my windshield (yay driving on the highway) and a nail in my tire! Luckily, I have AWESOME car insurance that paid for both windshield repairs despite getting a chip and a star within four days of each other so all I had to pay for was one new tire (which wasn't cheap, but add two windshield repairs and it's really not cheap).

I've never had so many issues with car stuff in my life! And I'm glad that in the grand scheme of cars, these are definitely easy to fix and relatively non-expensive.

It's all so ridiculous that it's ridiCARlous! Oh, I'm so punny.

I Can't Even...

If this isn't one of the most gorgeous dances - no, piece of art - then I don't know anything.

Travis Wall's choreography is UN.REAL. And I'm SO glad Robert is back on that stage.

Remember That Time?

And now for what I'd like to call "Fire Alarm Nostalgia."

According to my campers' twitter accounts, TCU decided it was a good night to test the fire alarms. Their tweets reminded me of the two most memorable fire alarms in my two years on campus and naturally, I thought it'd make a great blog post.

Freshman year, I lived in an all girls dorm (which has since been renovated and made co-ed). I got so lucky, getting along very well with my roomie and most of our immediate neighbors. One of our neighbors was sweet, and we got along with her, but she was definitely a ditz. We may or may not have written down a few of the things she said because we found them HILARIOUS despite her being completely serious when she said them.

One Friday night our fire alarm went off no less than 4 times in about an hour and a half. After the third time we could smell pop corn, although it was definitely not burnt. On our way down the stairs (my freshman dorm didn't have an elevator, not that you're supposed to use those in fire "emergencies" anyway and we were on the second of three floors), we overheard our neighbor say quite loudly, "Someone must be baking popcorn again!"

We thought this was hilarious. Why? No one bakes popcorn. You microwave it, duh. Wouldn't the fire alarm most definitely be going off if someone threw popcorn in the oven?

Sophomore year, I moved into the dorm next door which had previously been all-girls but starting that year would be co-ed by floor (girls on first and third, boys on second). Well, one night at about 1:30 am, the fire alarm went off. Then again at 2:30. Rumor had it, a drunken frat boy had decided it was a good idea to play with the fire extinguisher in the kitchen on the second floor. That foam/dust from the foam automatically makes the fire alarm go off, as we had all discovered in the great YouTube video below.

Video: hilarious. Real life with frat boys at 1:30, 2:30 and 6:30 am: not so much.
So as you can read, the fire alarm went off again at 6:30 when the physical plant workers came to clean up.

So as nostalgic as I may be to relive some of the best years of my life, I do enjoy getting to sleep through the night and not be interrupted throughout the evening, or worse, the night.

That being said, when you live with your best friends, it definitely makes these times way more fun and fun to relive years later!

Take Me Back

I wrote this post before I realized I'd be posting it on Thursday, so now I'm pretty pumped because I can theme this whole post "Throwback Thursday"! It's the little things, y'all.

There are so so SO many times I think, "TAKE ME BACK!" And as my campers (of three times) start to head off to their freshman year of college, I'm thinking about how I left for college 7 years ago. I'd love to rewind and go back (wouldn't we all). I guess I can always relive it on Facebook like I just did, hahaha.

There were glow-in-the-dark stars on my dorm room ceiling when I got there and the C was backwards... Sadly, my freshman dorm has been redone so I can't go check-in on these beautiful stars and boys live in my room now. Ew. Once Upon a Time, TCU made freshman boys and girls live in separate dorms... Now, notsomuch.

Homecoming freshman year with Brigitte and Maggie. I met some of my best friends (and all future roommates pretty much) my freshman year of college.

TCU lets their students go to any sports' home games for free (with the tuition those kids' parents pay they deserve it). My advice to all incoming freshmen: GO TO THE GAMES. You'll have a blast and you can walk with your friends. You have no excuse not to go (unless it's a Thursday night game and you have a douchebag professor giving you a test the next day... then I suggest you study and then maybe still go to the game).

I'm so lucky to be going back for grad school. I know it will be completely different (harder and not to mention Fort Worth has changed A LOT in the last 7 years), but I know that grad school will be it's own awesome and fun chapter. And yes, I'll be going to any and all home games that I can - GO FROGS.

My advice to you incoming freshmen, TCU or any other school: LIVE IT UP. Your freshman year will be over before you know it. Your sophomore year is totally different and you'll miss freshman year. Not to say that each year isn't fun, but there's a certain carelessness that freshman have that other classes don't have.

Do you ever wish you could relive your freshman year?

Wise Words

It's been an emotional day. I learned some heartbreaking and very shocking news today and these words I learned when I was 10 years old just popped into my head. I thought I'd share them with you here just in case anyone else needed them tonight.

"The girl worth while is the girl who can smile when everything goes dead wrong."
Chapel Hill at Camp Mystic
I hope someone who needs this sees these words and they are as comforting to you as they are to me.

Please lift up one of my dear friends and her sweet family in your prayers, send them good vibes, whatever you feel.

It's Been a Minute

It's been a minute since I last linked up for High Five for Friday, but after living in my big girl apartment for 6 whole days, I finally have some pics for you!

 photo H54Fbutton-1_zpsa7aaa665.png
Are you linking up?

1. Living room. And Nappy. He's so silly!

2. Desk area. There's still some tweaking to do here, but major props to my sweet daddy for coming to town to help put my desk together after a slight meltdown (or two) from yours truly...

3. My art project for the week for above my bed. My mom is coming back to town to bring the rest of my stuff this weekend and she's going to help me hang it up!

4. My TCU vintage program calendar has a frightening woman for the month...

5. Nappy seems to looooove it here so far! He finally has a window (sliding glass door) that he can see out of sitting up AND lying down. He even fell asleep there last night. So precious!

I hope you've had a fabulous week!
