Throwback Thursday

I'm bringing Throwback Thursday to blogger today! In 2010, my bestie and I went to see Lady Gaga for my birthday present. Both of our birthdays are in May and Gaga came to Dallas just two months later. It was perfect.

We're going Tuesday night again! I'm so excited! We're going to have a blast and a half.

Breakfast Ideas... Anyone?

I love breakfast. I have been known on occasion to eat it for every meal of a given day. It's delicious.

The problem is that when I eat breakfast for breakfast I eat crap. The best breakfast for breakfast I eat is probably my Cinnamon Toast Crunch (judge me all you want, but you know it's delicious!) and organic milk (I love Horizon!).
Anyone else guilty of cracking up at these ads?

The past few days, though, the rest of the morning leaves me feeling sluggish which carries through the rest of the day. I've been trying to make the conscious decision to eat "better," but this week has failed miserably. I've gone to bed feeling bloated and just generally uncomfortable. I know how I can make lunches and dinners better, but I'm just at a loss for breakfast.

I wake up hungry so it needs to be something relatively easy(ish) to fix. Oh and I'm super picky. I tried oatmeal a few weeks ago. The flavor was delicious (Maple and Brown Sugar Quaker Oats), but the texture was... not so yummy. Shudder-inducing shall we say? I'm not normally a huge texture person, but that was just not ok.

Anyway, I'm wondering what you kids out in blogger world eat for breakfast that's quick, easy, filling, and delicious!

High Five for Friday

Hello!!! I'm linking up for High Five for Friday again!

one: Silver Linings Playbook has FINALLY made it's way to East Texas. I'm pumped, to say the least. According to Google, it's been out since September and I've been dying to see it. So hopefully later today or at the latest, tomorrow, I will be seeing it!
two: Nappy hates socks. He tried to eat them off my mom's foot the other night. It was funny when he wasn't attacking me.
three: My iPhone told me I was in St Louis the other day. I had no idea I had even left Texas!
four: I started a new book! After talking to Macie Tuesday night/Wednesday morning about Pretty Little Liars from earlier that evening, we started talking books. She recommended Beautiful Creatures and the Maze Runner series! Since Creatures is coming out in theaters next month, I decided to read it first! I'm already a quarter of the way through it after reading two nights. You can tell it's written for teenagers, but the story itself is good.
five: Starting a new book means I finally finished the fourth Game of Thrones book!

What are you high fiving Friday for?

MY Fashion Police: Golden Globes 2013

I just caught the end of E's Fashion Police and I couldn't disagree more from them! Especially Joan. I'll have to catch the whole episode later this week because normally I agree with Giuliana or Kelly but tonight... Not so much.

Anyway, I decided to list my best and worst dressed from the Golden Globes. Also, I love Awards Season. When I have my own place I will make my friends come over to watch and make wagers on each category and well as decide our best and worst dressed. Beware, friends.

Jennifer Lawrence looked divine in Dior Haute Couture. (The chest area was a little odd, but otherwise, "j'dor Dior!")

I guess I was digging the reds and Dior this year because Marion Cotillard also hit it out of the park last night in this little number. I love the hem line.
via
Let's talk about Olivia Munn. This is Giorgio Armani so different, but just the right amount of different. She didn't cross a line and looks gorgeous. Also, this lady is hilarious.
via
And now worst dressed.

The ABSOLUTE worst was Sienna Miller. I don't know WHAT she was thinking. She said something about wanting to represent the 60's, but I think this is more BAD 90's meets 60's... It's awful.
via
And Lena Dunham. I don't get it. I haven't seen Girls, so maybe I need to see it, but I don't understand the current obsession with her. What I have seen of her? Not that funny. Not to mention, please don't wear a dress like this with your nasty tattoos all over the place. Awards Shows are all about class and elegance and I just feel like the tats ruined it for me. Also, this dress does not fit her well at all.
via
Joan decided that T-Swifty was her best dressed of the whole night. Well, Joan, I have to disagree. I normally LOVE Taylor's dresses and style in general. But I have to assume her stylist is under quarantine and couldn't help the poor girl out for the Globes because she looked terrible. The helmet hair, the darkness, it's too much. I understand the Globes are a little bigger than her usual CMAs and Teen Choice Awards, but she tried WAY too hard.
via
And now to our wonderful hosts. Tina and Amy KILLED it last night. They were hilarious but definitely underutilized. They both looked gorgeous and definitely need to host everything forever. If Ricky Gervais can not be that funny and host for three years, Tina and Amy should DEFINITELY get at least 2 more years, right?

Walk Softly and Carry a Big...

Curtain rod? We now carry a curtain rod with us on our walks.

Yes. Two weeks ago, Nappy, my mom, and I were on our (mostly, except when it's raining) daily walk. As we were coming around this awkward corner in our neighborhood, when we saw this bull dog-looking dog in his yard without a leash or any restraint. Being the trusting neighbors we are, we tried to just hurry around this corner and keep moving along in case this was not a nice dog.

Well, guess what? It was NOT a nice dog. It wasn't even a mean dog. It was a crazy dog with reckless owners. This dog comes barreling across almost three streets to us and attacks Nappy. Male aggression attacking, if you catch my drift. Scariest five minutes of my life. The mean dog's (female) owner comes running out of her car to get him off of Nappy while Nappy is screaming. If you've ever heard a dog scream, it's terrible - especially when it's your dog.
Why would anyone want to attack this sweet boy?

Whether they think it's "cool" or they know he has training problems, this dog has on a choke collar with the prongs that dig into their neck for corrections, not just a training chain collar. Either way this collar slips right off of this stupid dog and he continues attacking Nappy. Finally the dog's (male) owner comes out with the stupid dog's leash, but a leash doesn't really help if the dog's collar doesn't stay on, does it? Finally they get the collar and leash on (did I forget to say that not only did they have a horrible collar, but it slipped right off?!) and take the dog back to their house. We exchange information and all that and walk Nappy the rest of the way home.

Luckily, Nappy only came away with a scratch on his private area (but I think it's going to scar, unfortunately). When we got home, my mom doctored her knee and foot (she fell on the asphalt trying to get the stupid dog off of Nappy and scraped the top of her foot and her knee through her sweat pants) and then called Animal Control just to have the situation reported. The dog ended up being up to date on rabies and everything so we didn't have to take Nappy to the emergency vet (thank God!) since it was a Sunday and Christmas Eve Eve.

Anyway, moral of the story, we now carry an old metal curtain rod with a giant bulb on the end when we go on walks in case another dog comes after us. Also, if you're one of those people that trusts their dog to stay in the yard: DON'T. Put your dog on a leash. If you don't want to have to stay out with your dog, put him in the back yard or take him to the dog park (provided he isn't aggressive).
