High Five for Friday

Happy Friday, everyone! I'm linking up for High Five for Friday today!

one: I spent last Saturday and Sunday watching my beautiful seester dance at a local dance competition. It was so much fun and she was amazeballs. After she was done Saturday, we went out for some delicious TCBY.
two: Nappy turns TWO in less than a month! I can't believe my little nugget is almost two years old!
three: There's a Tamagotchi App, y'all. One of mine has already died and this is my newer one. I'm obsessed and feel like I'm reliving my 90's childhood... on my iPhone. #nostalgia
four: I found some GREAT old school pictures the other day and thought I'd share this one from my first day of Kindergarten. How cute was I?!
five: I'm mailing in my official acceptance of my admission to TCU's graduate program. I am SOOOO excited to start this new chapter. I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't scared/nervous/anxious, because I definitely am, but I know this is going to be awesome.

Currently, I'm glued to the news. This Boston Marathon stuff is insane. I'm sending every possible good vibe to Boston and the town of West, Texas. This has been a weird week for our country and these two places need all the goodness we can spare.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Powerful

That's the only word I can think of to describe this video Dove released.

This campaign Dove created a few years back is genius. And this video is powerful. We are not what we think we are or how fat we think we look or how pale we think we are or whatever it is you think about yourself. We are all guilty (men and women alike) of thinking negatively about ourselves, but  we are so much more than our looks. Even strangers can see that as shown in this video. I love this and just had to share it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did/do.

Remember, you are beautiful!

It Only Takes a Spark...

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire released a new trailer last night at the MTV Movie Awards and it pumped me up! Did you see it? If not, here you go. Feel free to re-watch it.

Is it November yet?

Dream Journal?

So since I've been out of the hospital (over a month now, yay!), I've had trouble sleeping. I'm on a ton of medicine and I know at least two of them have sleep-related side effects. When I went to my GI two weeks ago, I asked if there was something I could take to help me sleep better at night. He told me taking melatonin (I had asked specifically about that) was fine, but Benadryl might work a little better. So for about a week and a half, I took Benadryl before bed (followed by about an hour of reading the Maze Runner series). Now it might be a combo of the Benadryl and this series, but I'm currently attributing it solely to the Bendryl, but I've had some WEIRD dreams. I thought I'd make a small list of some of the dreams (or fragments of) for your enjoyment, because there's some weird stuff.

  • something about a tone deaf singer walking around downtown Fort Worth
  • planning a dodgeball tournament with some frat boys at Texas A & M (where I've never actually been - I think it has to do with my campers making their big college decisions all over facebook)
  • seeing one of my campers (who recently decided on TCU) at Hobby Lobby and meeting her ENTIRE family (I'm talkin' aunts, uncle, grand parents, cousins, etc)
  • I found my several of my campers (one of whom is one of my favorites) doing drugs on a curb outside of a Hobby Lobby
  • something about Dance Moms and Chloe (I was definitely stalking the girls on Instagram before bed so that's why this happened)
  • Something about missing school and when I went back I couldn't remember my schedule and when I finally got to class we all sat in bathroom stalls...

Also, I quit taking Benadryl for a few nights (and replaced it with melatonin) and the weird dreams continued. I don't even know, you guys. At least it's keeping me entertained?

Do you ever remember your dreams?

RIP Lilly

As you may know, Lilly Pulitzer passed away yesterday at the age of 81. To honor her passing I thought I'd post a picture of a craft I did last summer with one of my favorite quotes!

Are you a Lilly fan? I love how bright and colorful all of her clothes are!

Never Have I Ever

This link up looks too fun to not join!

Never Have I Ever

So without further ado... Never have I ever:

Been hungover. I haven't blacked out, thrown up, or ever been hungover after drinking. Not even when I turned 21 and my roomies threw my an awesome party. That just doesn't sound fun to me at all. Getting drunk with friends and dancing the night away is a blast, but I have a pretty good tolerance and know how to pace myself.

Gotten tattooed or pierced. I'm probably the only (almost) 25-year-old I know that doesn't have her ears pierced. I hate needles (although after all the lab work I've had done this year, maybe not as afraid as I thought). I have a very very very low pain tolerance. I don't even know where I'd get a tattoo if I wanted one anyway because I wouldn't want it to be too obvious (I think tattoos can ruin bridal portraits if their visible and as I'm not married, that's a major concern for the future).

Seen a scary movie in the theater. As I've stated many times before, I hate scary movies. I can't watch the previews at home or at the theater. I mute the TV or change the channel at home and pull out my phone at the movie theater to avoid the horror.

Been pulled over. I was such a granny driver when I first got my license in high school. As I started driving on the interstate more and more throughout college, I loosened up a lot. I've had some close calls, but never gotten a warning or a ticket. I'm a pro at spotting cops though, so I attribute that to my luck. Knock on wood this trend continues.

Smoked anything. Cigarettes, pot, nothing. My grandmother had lung (twice) and esophageal cancer so I like to avoid that. Plus with my new tummy issues, smoking would only make it worse. And it smells HORRIBLY. I'm sorry, I don't know how smokers do it. The smell is disgusting.

Been involved in a (major) wreck that was my fault. One of my friends in high school backed into my little car in her suburban and totally killed my hood. I've rear ended someone in traffic but there was no damage except a few paint scratches. Someone backed into my car in a parking garage during a trip to Fort Worth a few years ago. All of these are little things and I'm very glad for it. I like my car looking nice and new (and clean although it's spring in Texas which means everyone's cars are green thanks to the pollen) so I take very good care of my car.

Been to Mexico. Doesn't sound that odd until you realize that almost everyone that lives in Texas (and their dog, seems like) has been to Mexico. My family went on a cruise in 2009, but it was right after the Swine Flu outbreak and Carnival suspended all stops to Mexico for a two months window. We were one of the last cruises in that window, naturally.

Liked seafood. I hate fish. I hate shrimp. I hate lobster. If it lived in the ocean, I don't like it. I'm a super picky eater, but I've tried more and more things as I've gotten older. Fish/seafood is something I absolutely refuse to like. Anytime I've eaten it, it just all tastes SO fishy to me. I know that salmon and stuff is good for you because of the fatty Omega 3's or whatever, but I just do NOT like it. Yuck yuck yuck.

Did I get you on any of these? I kept it pretty G-rated since this is the internet and I really don't want to embarrass myself - haha. Are you linking up?
