Sunday Social

I'm linking up for Sunday Social again! This week's theme is "Never Have I Ever"-type questions!

1. What is one movie you are terrified to watch? I'm a really big baby. I HATE scary movies. I can't even watch the trailers for them. I'll mute the TV, change the channel, close my eyes, etc to avoid them at home. If I'm at the movie theater I either get on my phone one last time before the movie actually starts or I stare at whatever treat I'm enjoying. I hate scary movies.

2. What is one TV show you have always wanted to get into but haven't yet? Dr. Who, but thanks to Lindsay I've seen the first two episodes. She gave me fair warning that it took her 6 or 7 episodes to get into, but I can see from the two I've seen that it has definite potential. I'm excited to watch more. I've also heard wonderful things about Downton Abbey. The things is, I already watch a TON of TV shows, it's kind of ridiculous. That's what deters me from starting anything else new.
The Ninth Doctor and the TARDIS

3. What is one daring activity on your bucket list? You can see my Bucket List here, but that most daring thing on it at the moment is to go parasailing. I'm slightly afraid of heights, but people make it sound like a blast!

4. Would you ever travel alone? I guess I have already. My senior year of high school I flew from KC, MO back to Love Field in Dallas by myself on New Year's Eve so I could celebrate my last high school NYE with my high school friends. I've also driven seven hours to camp by myself about four times. I don't think I'd want to go on vacation or something by myself though. I'm already an only child and tend to get bored just by myself. Plus vacations are more fun with people anyway (unless that's a family cruise with your step-sisters in the smallest, interior room known to man - word of advice: never share an interior room on a cruise with two other females).

5. What activities do you like to do alone? Nap. One day I'm sure Nappy will want to cuddle, but for now he's a no-cuddle, no-nonsense pup when it comes to sleep. Plus I like to sleep at a diagonal in my bed (anyone else do this?). Real activities though? Seeing movies (especially sad movies) all by my lonesome isn't too bad - I've become quite the solo movie pro since graduating from college.

Sunday Social

It's the last Sunday Social of 2012!

Sunday Social

And it's all about New Years!

1. Favorite New Years Eve you've ever had?
NYE 2010 in California before TCU played in the Rose Bowl! There was a big TCU NYE party at Hollywood in Highland with the TCU Band and celebrity look-alikes! I took my picture with Lucille Ball, just like Mr. Bob Schieffer. We toasted at Texas midnight (aka 10 pm California time) and all headed back to our hotels. The next morning I got up and went to the famed Rose Parade and watched my Horned Frogs win the Rose Bowl!
Happy New Year's and go frogs from LA!
2. Are you doing anything this NYE and if so what?
My married friends, the Browns, moved over the summer to a nicer apartment and they're hosting their first big shindig at the new place. We're going to have lots of food, fun, and of course friends!

3. Name a book we should all read come January.
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling. I've blogged before about my newfound obsession with Mindy. She's hilarious. She was hilarious on The Office as Kelly Kapoor and she's even more hilarious on her new show The Mindy Project as Dr. Mindy Lahiri. I also recommend other comedienne's books (Tina Fey, Chelsea Handler, etc).

4. What are your new years resolutions?

  • Drink more water! This has been a resolution for the past few years and I've made a great effort, but I know I still don't drink as much water as I should.
  • Read more! I started the A Song of Ice and Fire series (aka Game of Thrones) last September and I've spent most of this year reading the fourth book. I want to finish 4 and read all of 5 in 2013! As well as the other 3 books I've got open in real life and on my Kindle. (Give me some suggestions on what you're reading, too! I love to know what my friends are reading!)
  • Get into Grad School! I know this isn't totally in my control, but once I get into grad school I want to study my ass off. I mean, study like I know I should have in undergrad. Get awesome internships. Meet new people. Enjoy grad school to the fullest.
  • Spend more time with Nappy. Do more things he likes, like playing with his little soccer ball outside and going to the dog park when we move to a place that has a dog park (hopefully this summer?).
  • Eat better. I've been battling my cholesterol for the past two years now (an unfortunate side effect of my thyroid issues) and I know I can eat better, but Chick-fil-a is so convenient and delicious. I started counting my calories in August and it's actually helped me stay accountable to how much crap I eat and makes me want to eat better. So I'm going to do it. 2013 is the year!

Plans for a New Year

I cannot wait to turn over a new leaf and for 2012 to start. 2011 has been long, emotional, and a little too uneventful (my life anyway).

In 2012, Nappy and I will take more dog classes (I think that's why he's gotten to bad lately, like today when we went out and he found some other animal's feces to roll in - GROSS). I WILL get a job, damnit. I will I will I will. If I don't I will be taking up residence in a white padded cell. I will move out. I will have a REALLY cute apartment. I will host fun dinner parties/game night with my friends. Nappy will mature and be more cuddly and less roll-in-poop-y. I will meet someone. I know I said that for this year and I was introduced to someone (alert: stage 5 clinger - not ok) but that didn't work out. I will visit Fort Worth more (if I don't end up moving there) to spend time with TCU people and Muck.

I know we still have 25 days left of 2011, and I plan to make them count, but I'm just so ready for 2012. I even get an extra day next year to make ALL of this happen (thank you, leap year)! And these aren't even my new years resolutions. Do you have anything you want to happen next year?

Happy New Year!

Happy 2011, followers! I hope you all had a great first few days of 2011, I know I have!

In case you've been living under a rock or are not a sports person, TCU WON THE FREAKIN' ROSE BOWL!!!

I've started uploading my photos to flickr so I can get them on my blog more easily in the future so here's my first test:

Saturday was a long and exciting day for me! I started by waking up at 4:40 am after a few hours of sleep to go to the Rose Parade. The floats were AMAZING. I can't explain how in awe I am that everything on those floats is flower-related. Flowers, seeds, rice, it's crazy! It's sooooo beautiful!
This is one of my favorite floats from the parade. It depicts one of America's greatest presidents, ronald Reagan throughout his life.

After the parade, my mom and I walked back over to the buses and our caravan of buses had a police escort to the Rose Bowl. It was so surreal being there! I still can't believe we made it there AND WON! After hiking to the tailgate (on a golf course, swanky), we ate and I took some pictures with friends. We hiked back tot he stadium from the golf course and watched one of the coolest games I've ever watched. It comes SO close to the Utah 2009 game, but isn't quite as awesome. My mom said it's a different awesome, which is definitely true. After the game, we boarded the buses and headed back to the hotel where we ordered room service and passed out. Go frogs!

Pasadena Bound

TCU has SOLD OUT of the 20,000 allotted tickets to the Rose Bowl. My mom and I are two of the lucky people included in the sea of purple that will be taking Pasadena by storm for the last couple of days of 2010 and beginning of 2011. So excited! But of course, I must thank my ticket purchaser, Stef, because otherwise my mom and I would be traveling, but not actually getting into the game.

Go frogs!
