Last Day

Today is my last day being 25. Tomorrow I enter my late 20's and I'm just not sure how to feel about that. Anyway, I thought I'd recap the highlights of my 25th year and all of its awesomeness, because if we're being honest, 25 has been my absolute favorite year.

1. Kicked off being 25 by having a double celebration with one of my besties.

2. Saw my second Texas Rangers game.

3. Watched my baby sister graduate and said goodbye as she moved away for college.

4. Painted a peacock.

5. Saw one of my best college friends get married (and went to North Carolina for the first time in the process).

8. Moved back to Fort Worth.

7. Introduced Nappy to his first other corgi. It was completely derptastic.

8. One of my best friends announced she was pregnant.

9. Started grad school and met several new, awesome friends.

10. Saw the baby elephants at the FW Zoo.

11. My besties visited me and we went to the FW Zoo and took this adorable picture that captures our friendship to a T.

12. Was this far away from Justin Timberlake.

13. Made cronuts.

14. Saw Mizzou win the Cotton Bowl in a nail biter!

15. Drove in snow for the first time ever (Listen, it's Texas. We don't do cold weather).

16. Co-hosted this lil mama's baby shower.

17. Got this text and was giddy with excitement for a full week.

18. Met the sweetest baby boy in the whole world and got drunk on baby smell. So good.

19. Saw cops on horses. On campus.

20. Saw Chelsea Handler's stand up routine for her newest book, Uganda Be Kidding Me.

21. Made Ninja Turtle eggs with the Little One.

22. Conducted my first major research project for grad school (Social TV, y'all. So cool).

23. Took pictures of Nappy in the bluebonnets at my mom's neighbor's house.

24. Celebrated the end of the semester with these lovely ladies. Don't know how I would have made it through my first year of grad school without them.

25. Enjoyed one of the best years ever. Here's to 26. You have a lot to live up to, but I think we can make it happen!

Keys to Pop Culture This Week

I'm trying to make a weekly pop culture post a regular thing, guys. I posted the first one last Friday and due to my lack of planning and absolutely 110% lazy day yesterday, I failed on that, haha. But I'm here today to resurrect it! Here are some big pop culture happenings from the week!

1. Allegiant, the third and final installment of the Divergent series, will be split into two movies. While I haven't been totally on board with all of the splitting of final books into two movies (read: I don't think Mockingjay needs to be two movies, but whatevs), I think this is actually a great idea. Having just read Allegiant when it came out in October, I agree with this move. There is a lot of action covered in the third book, so a split will be necessary to cover it all in the movie.

2. Johnny Depp was subpoenaed while at the premiere for his new movie Transcendence. Can you say AWKWARD? A woman was killed after another woman hit her on the way to see Depp, allegedly. Depp will have to testify in court and prove that he does not know the woman.

I'll use any reason to look at this picture...

3. After 8 years, Chelsea Handler is calling it quits on her E! talk show, Chelsea Lately. I was REALLY hoping after Letterman announced his retirement from the Late Show next year that Handler would be the first woman in network late night, but I was wrong. For now.

4. As mentioned above, David Letterman will be stepping down from the Late Show. Stephen Colbert will be replacing him... Not in character, but as himself. The real Stephen Colbert.

5. Hello, 90's Nostalgia! The first commercial for Girl Meets World, the sort-of sequel to fan favorite Boy Meets World, debuted this week. I. Can. Not. Wait.

Spring Broke.

What's this Spring Break everyone is speaking of? I've had an alarm set every morning of mine so far. So Now I'm feeling a little whiny.

Saturday, I had a paper due that night, so I got up to finish it and turn it in early. I also had other stuff to do before I came to my mom's for a few days.

Sunday, I set my alarm to do some more homework and the time had changed. However, I like Springing Forward because the sun doesn't disappear at 5 pm and it's one step closer to summer. I'd rather lose that hour that gain it back in the fall. And this winter has been miserable. I think most of you would agree with me on that. If I can't handle this winter in Texas, there's no way I can ever move further North. Sorry.

Monday, Nappy got groomed for the first time in nearly three months. Why do groomer's want you to drop your dog off so early? I don't understand. I did get to play with a sweet baby girl that afternoon, though, so that's always a plus. She even spit up on my hand, isn't that sweet? Definitely ignited the Baby Fever fire again even though I'm not ready. At all. I think I just know so many Preggos right now, I'm ready to play with babies for hours... Until they get fussy and/or need a diaper change. (Side note: I have never changed a diaper.)

Today, I got my hair cut for the first time in months. Woah, did it need it! Then I stopped by my old work to drop off a baby gift since one of my co-workers is due next month and I'm missing her shower this week. Like I said: BABY FEVER. Good thing I have a pup to come play with at home.


After that, I came home and had lunch and then went to a doctor's appointment. The dread building up was so much worse that the actual appointment. Ugh. But then I got to take the best nap I've taken in days.

Tomorrow, I was planning on heading back West, but it's supposed to be windy and that would require setting another alarm, so I'm pushing it back a day. Not to mention, I get to see Lindsay one last time before BB comes! BB is due to make his grand appearance next Friday. I canNOT wait to meet this sweet boy. He has the best parents and a TON of people who already love and adore him. Again: BABY FEVER.

Also, I finished reading Chelsea Handler's newest book, Uganda Be Kidding Me, and it's hilarious. I'm seeing her with a few of the grad school girls in two and a half weeks when she comes to Grand Prairie (between Dallas and Fort Worth) and I'm hoping the other girls will want to get books signed or take pictures because I'm dying to have my book signed. This will only be my second comedy tour (I saw Dane Cook 5 years ago and he was HILARIOUS - I mean, obviously). If you haven't picked it up yet, I highly recommend it. If you haven't read any of her books - DO IT NOW.

I hope those of you out there that still get spring breaks are actually getting to enjoy your break. In grad school it's just a week where you do 9 more hours of work because I don't have to go to class every night...

Have you ever clicked that little link up there that says "Next Blog>>" ? It's fantastic if you're bored like I am right now. However, sometimes I wonder how and why Blogger picks what the blogs to pop up on my screen. I know blogging about your upcoming family is a poplar thing for young moms and dads to do right now, and I think it's precious, but I went from random gamers dudes' blogs to upcoming family blogs, which were adorable, and then it went into random languages that aren't English blogs (I'm assuming most were French, but some weren't). How did Blogger decide to go from random gamer dudes to sweet little children on their first day of pre-school? There's just no telling, but I do highly suggest clicking that link up there when you have some time, you almost always come across one cute little blog about a family somewhere out there.

In other news, I'm in a bad mood. The cute little family blogs helped some, but I'm still not at a break even point where I'm neither unhappy nor happy. I'm finally feeling some serious frustration with the job search thing. Among other aspects of my life. I'm just ready for the next chapter to have already started. I hate beginnings. I like middles. I think one of the things I'm most frustrated with is how bored I am. I need something to keep myself busy. A book to read? A Chelsea Handler book perhaps? A GRE book to study? I don't know... What I do know is that in 7 days I will be getting ready to go to Grand Prairie to see the SYTYCD season 7 tour and my step-sister, Katy, will be 21. CRAZY.
