Random Though Sock

Just one random thought sock, though. For now, anyway. I promise to write a real post on life next week! I'm going to do a Weekend Shenanigans link up Monday but for last weekend while I was in Raleigh. Is that cheating? I say no.

Anyway, on to my random thought sock. Why are ID/Rabies tags SO EFFING HARD to get on and off dog collars? Sure they stay there a year, but I've already been working on changing out Nappy's for a good 20 minutes and I'm about to pull my hair out. You need at least 17 hands for this ish. My mom said she'd do it, but what am I going to do about this when I actually live alone? For real.

Anywhoodles, I started the moving process Monday and will be finishing it up this weekend, hence saving the post for next week.

Etsy Addiction

So subconsciously, I must be really excited for my big move (which is now happening a day early which means it's only 12 days away now - booyah!). Anyway, the past three (or is it four) nights I've stayed awake until at lest 1 am. It sucks because I'm mentally ready for bed and tired, but physically I'm not the least bit sleepy. So I've resorted to taking Benadryl, which helps, but not quickly enough.

Anyway, in an attempt to combat staying up too late for my old self, I'm not taking a nap today. Which means I'm having to find things to occupy my time. Like dancing in the living room with my iTunes turned way up. And trying to remember the last three or four dances we've learned in dance, however I can't even remember the one last night we did to the True Blood theme song. My brain... I gotta work it out, because I'm starting Grad School in a few weeks.

And I found Etsy. And I bought two bandanas for Nappy from Itsy Bitsy Gatsby (a store owned by a girl with two precious corgis) and some magnets with corgis on them. It's a serious problem. I have so many saved things I need want to buy on there. Also, don't mind me while I become the crazy corgi lady. Or just the crazy Esty addicted grad student. SO MUCH CUTE STUFF.

I guess I could also stalk camp online, but second term started yesterday and I don't know any of those girls, so it's not as much fun as stalking first term.

I'd take Nappy outside to play soccer or frisbee, but it's July in Texas, y'all, and it's just too damn hot. Sunday afternoon there was HOT wind. It was worse than no wind. It was awful. Speaking of hotness and second term, I don't know how those girls do it. Major ups for them because they go to camp during what is arguably the hottest month of the year with no A/C, so let's applaud them.

The Final Countdown

My lease starts in TWO WEEKS, everyone. After this weekend, I think I have everything I'll *really* need when I get there. The only major thing I think I have left is my little corner desk, but I have to get that at IKEA and I have to make sure I actually have room for it.

I've had a pretty lame first week of July, which is totally fine (except I did see three movies in three days last week). I've been spending my mom's money getting stuff for my apartment (her graduation gift to me - from three years ago - was to furnish my first apartment). Last week I got some kitchen utensils from Target + I used my RED Card and got 5% off so I save about $15. It was pretty exciting. Then over the weekend we bought my TVs and a new printer at Best Buy. Yesterday and today I went through stuff from college and threw out three BIG (and full) trash bags full of stuff I don't need (like Intro to Shakespeare notes - bet my step-sister wishes I had known I still had those during her AP English classes...).

RATCHET. but how this month already feels

This weekend is Lindsay's birthday party. Next weekend is Stacey's wedding in North Carolina. Then the moving begins!!! You'll have to excuse me if I'm a little MIA this month.

Bachelorette Shenanigans!

This weekend was one of my college roommates' Bachelorette Weekend!

I was very low-key Friday night since I had a BIG Saturday planned. Saturday morning I woke up early, packed, and headed to Fort Worth! I got to FTW about 11:30 so I stopped at one of my favorite restaurants, Kincaid's Hamburgers, for lunch. Their hamburgers are perfect and they have crinkle fries! I also love(d) that they have Cherry Coke (however, I haven't had Coke since FEBRUARY, so I stuck to Sprite - nonetheless, I love that they have the option).

After a delish lunch, I went to Amanda's apartment to change and help with any last minute finishing touches she needed before the rest of the guests arrived. Her apartment was precious (as to be expected from this particular Amanda) and her decorations for the Bridal Shower were perfect!

After the Shower, I went downtown to check in to my hotel room and relax a little before getting all glammed up for the Bachelorette Party! Then, I went downstairs to the Bachelorette Party room and helped decorate there before everyone arrived. When the party started, we played some fun games, had delicious snacks, and drank pink champagne!

After that, we caught one of the last trolleys to Mi Cocina for dinner! Then we went to one of my (and the bride-to-be's) favorite places: Pete's Dueling Piano Bar! We danced, sang loudly, and had an absolute blast! Stacey brought one of her friends from TN/ bridesmaid, Kaitlyn, who quickly became all of our new friend. She created the motto for the night when boys started to approach us: Buy us a drink or leave! We were kind of kidding, but kind of not - what good is being a girl in a bar if you don't get a free drink or two?

At the end of the night (or beginning of the morning?), we walked back to our hotel (that's one of the greatest things about downtown Fort Worth - you can walk EVERYWHERE) and hung out for a few more minutes before I went back up to my room and got in bed. Quints was on on Disney Channel and Maggie and I relived our 90's childhood-ness for the last 20 minutes or so of the movie.

Sunday morning, Maggie and I hit up the Jazz Cafe for breakfast. It's a little mom and pop hole-in-the wall place, but my breakfast was SOOOO yummy.

After that, I drove back to Tyler, exhausted and VERY ready for my move to the Fort next month!

In Memorial: The Cute Green House on University

As you know, I graduated 15 days ago from TCU. Along with graduation come moving out. My birthday was mother's day and the day after graduation. That day was spent packing up clothes, decorations, movies, toiletries, etc from my room into my car (and my mother's car) and driving it back to Tyler. On Friday, my mother and I drove back and took back two of our three cable boxes and awaited my father and one of his friends to get my furniture into the bed of his truck and a trailer. When I walked through our cute little green house I was overcome with sadness and memories.

My roommates (Amanda and Stacey) and I decided to live together near Christmas of Sophomore year. They had lived together for a semester Freshman year and I was unsure of what I was doing to Stacey invited me to live with them. We had originally planned to live on campus in the apartments, but TCU decided that rising Juniors weren't cool enough to stay on campus so we started discussing off-campus options. A few of my friends had decided to go off campus together and were looking for houses and apartments. They signed their lease shortly before my roommates and I decided to go rent house hunting. I asked Brigitte for her list of nixed houses and saw one that was too good to be true: 3 bed, 3 bath, on University, walking distance to campus. I called the landlord and we visited the house the following week.

We signed the lease shortly after the visit. We moved in slowly over the summer and then in the fall of 2008, started our two year adventures in that house. It had MANY flaws, but was pretty much perfect for three college girls. Amanda and I were a little more than 5 minutes walking from our major's building and Stacey was probably about 7 minutes walking distance from her's. Amanda and I often were able to walk together to Moudy, if not the same class. It was the perfect location.

Over the past two years, the three of us bonded and grew closer as friends. Amanda would come up and say hello to me every morning and afternoon and random other times through the window in the kitchen. Stacey would pace in the kitchen while studying for various tests and eventually a few high kicks were added to her pacing routine. Our cute green kitchen became the hub of the house where I would sit in my desk chair, Amanda would stand at the window, and Stacey would stand between the doors of the kitchen or be cooking and we'd talk.

On my way home from the Fort on Friday with my mom, she said, "You don't live in Fort Worth anymore. You don't have a Fort Worth address." It was so sad. Fort Worth became a home away from home for me over the past four years (but especially the last two) and while I hope to return there in the next few months when I get a big girl job, I'm in limbo. I live in Tyler with my mom. In a few days I'm going to camp for a month for the last time. Everything sounds so final right now, but I know that it's only the beginning.

So I wrote this post to memorialize our time in the Cute Green House on University. May the girls that move in enjoy you as much as we did.
