You know what's ridiculous? Three issues with your car within three weeks. Especially when two of those things are within FOUR DAYS of each other!
Since moving to DFW, I've had two rock chips in my windshield (yay driving on the highway) and a nail in my tire! Luckily, I have AWESOME car insurance that paid for both windshield repairs despite getting a chip and a star within four days of each other so all I had to pay for was one new tire (which wasn't cheap, but add two windshield repairs and it's really not cheap).
I've never had so many issues with car stuff in my life! And I'm glad that in the grand scheme of cars, these are definitely easy to fix and relatively non-expensive.
It's all so ridiculous that it's ridiCARlous! Oh, I'm so punny.

I Can't Even...
If this isn't one of the most gorgeous dances - no, piece of art - then I don't know anything.
Travis Wall's choreography is UN.REAL. And I'm SO glad Robert is back on that stage.

Remember That Time?
And now for what I'd like to call "Fire Alarm Nostalgia."
According to my campers' twitter accounts, TCU decided it was a good night to test the fire alarms. Their tweets reminded me of the two most memorable fire alarms in my two years on campus and naturally, I thought it'd make a great blog post.
Freshman year, I lived in an all girls dorm (which has since been renovated and made co-ed). I got so lucky, getting along very well with my roomie and most of our immediate neighbors. One of our neighbors was sweet, and we got along with her, but she was definitely a ditz. We may or may not have written down a few of the things she said because we found them HILARIOUS despite her being completely serious when she said them.
One Friday night our fire alarm went off no less than 4 times in about an hour and a half. After the third time we could smell pop corn, although it was definitely not burnt. On our way down the stairs (my freshman dorm didn't have an elevator, not that you're supposed to use those in fire "emergencies" anyway and we were on the second of three floors), we overheard our neighbor say quite loudly, "Someone must be baking popcorn again!"
We thought this was hilarious. Why? No one bakes popcorn. You microwave it, duh. Wouldn't the fire alarm most definitely be going off if someone threw popcorn in the oven?
Sophomore year, I moved into the dorm next door which had previously been all-girls but starting that year would be co-ed by floor (girls on first and third, boys on second). Well, one night at about 1:30 am, the fire alarm went off. Then again at 2:30. Rumor had it, a drunken frat boy had decided it was a good idea to play with the fire extinguisher in the kitchen on the second floor. That foam/dust from the foam automatically makes the fire alarm go off, as we had all discovered in the great YouTube video below.
Video: hilarious. Real life with frat boys at 1:30, 2:30 and 6:30 am: not so much.
So as you can read, the fire alarm went off again at 6:30 when the physical plant workers came to clean up.
So as nostalgic as I may be to relive some of the best years of my life, I do enjoy getting to sleep through the night and not be interrupted throughout the evening, or worse, the night.
That being said, when you live with your best friends, it definitely makes these times way more fun and fun to relive years later!

Take Me Back
I wrote this post before I realized I'd be posting it on Thursday, so now I'm pretty pumped because I can theme this whole post "Throwback Thursday"! It's the little things, y'all.
There are so so SO many times I think, "TAKE ME BACK!" And as my campers (of three times) start to head off to their freshman year of college, I'm thinking about how I left for college 7 years ago. I'd love to rewind and go back (wouldn't we all). I guess I can always relive it on Facebook like I just did, hahaha.

There were glow-in-the-dark stars on my dorm room ceiling when I got there and the C was backwards... Sadly, my freshman dorm has been redone so I can't go check-in on these beautiful stars and boys live in my room now. Ew. Once Upon a Time, TCU made freshman boys and girls live in separate dorms... Now, notsomuch.
Homecoming freshman year with Brigitte and Maggie. I met some of my best friends (and all future roommates pretty much) my freshman year of college.
TCU lets their students go to any sports' home games for free (with the tuition those kids' parents pay they deserve it). My advice to all incoming freshmen: GO TO THE GAMES. You'll have a blast and you can walk with your friends. You have no excuse not to go (unless it's a Thursday night game and you have a douchebag professor giving you a test the next day... then I suggest you study and then maybe still go to the game).
I'm so lucky to be going back for grad school. I know it will be completely different (harder and not to mention Fort Worth has changed A LOT in the last 7 years), but I know that grad school will be it's own awesome and fun chapter. And yes, I'll be going to any and all home games that I can - GO FROGS.
My advice to you incoming freshmen, TCU or any other school: LIVE IT UP. Your freshman year will be over before you know it. Your sophomore year is totally different and you'll miss freshman year. Not to say that each year isn't fun, but there's a certain carelessness that freshman have that other classes don't have.
Do you ever wish you could relive your freshman year?

Wise Words
It's been an emotional day. I learned some heartbreaking and very shocking news today and these words I learned when I was 10 years old just popped into my head. I thought I'd share them with you here just in case anyone else needed them tonight.
"The girl worth while is the girl who can smile when everything goes dead wrong."
I hope someone who needs this sees these words and they are as comforting to you as they are to me.
Please lift up one of my dear friends and her sweet family in your prayers, send them good vibes, whatever you feel.

It's Been a Minute
It's been a minute since I last linked up for High Five for Friday, but after living in my big girl apartment for 6 whole days, I finally have some pics for you!
1. Living room. And Nappy. He's so silly!

2. Desk area. There's still some tweaking to do here, but major props to my sweet daddy for coming to town to help put my desk together after a slight meltdown (or two) from yours truly...
3. My art project for the week for above my bed. My mom is coming back to town to bring the rest of my stuff this weekend and she's going to help me hang it up!

Weekend Shennanies
So sue me, this episode of Weekend Shenanigans is from last week. Deal with it. It's a good one.
So Thursday morning, I woke up super early so my mom could drive me to the local airport. I flew into DFW and had a four hour layover. Got to see a super cute Soccer team of boys who were flying from my gate on the flight before mine - bummer. My two friends, the Amandas got there and we had a little bit of phone drama just before we left (that concluded once we landed in Raleigh AND had a happy ending).
Once in Raleigh, Stacey picked us up and gave us a mini tour before taking us to the hotel to get changed for dinner at her parents' house! We had a blast and I learned that I'm really good at cornhole. So, hit me up, boys. I'll be your secret weapon because I can act like I don't get what's happening (which I don't really), but I'm really good! I swear!
Friday morning, I got up and had breakfast at the hotel with the Amandas before heading out with them, Stcey, and Stacey's cousins, mom, and aunt for lunch and mani-pedi time! After that we went back to the hotel and all enjoyed a little cat nap. Stacey's aunt and uncle drove me over to the dinner part of the rehearsal dinner. Dickey's BBQ catered and it was delish. While we ate, Adam's sister (ANOTHER Amanda - can you believe it!?) organized a cute little game for everyone to play about Stacey and Adam. It was so cute and I definitely want to incorporate it into my wedding one day.
Saturday morning, I got up and had hotel breakfast with the Amandas (minus Adam's sister) before they went over to get ready for the wedding with Stacey and the other bridesmaids. I went over to help set up the reception with Stacey's dad, aunt, uncle, and cousins. Then I ran all over town with Stacey's aunt and uncle looking for a CVS or Walgreens. In Texas they're on just about every corner - SO easy to find! We had to drive out 30 minutes to find a Walgreens! It was insane. After a late lunch, we all went back to the hotel to relax and get ready for the wedding!!!
Stacey's dad and Adam's brother-in-law performed the ceremony which was so cool. I really enjoyed Stacey's dad's little sermon about how he worked on it for 25 years. I thought it was so sweet and wanted to yell "AWWWWWW!" hahaha. The reception was after, obvi, and we ate, danced, and drank (maybe a little much) late into the night.
After the reception, we all went out around Raleigh. Stacey and Adam weren't going anywhere immediately after the wedding, so they joined us. Raleigh knows how to have a GOOD time, y'all. They get rowdy there. I started calling it Rowdy Raleigh, just to let you know how much fun I was having - hahaha.
We shut down the bars and we all caught cabs back to the hotel. Sunday morning, one of the Amandas and I had the same flight back to DFW so we said goodbye to the other Amanda, had a quick breakfast, and got picked up by Stacey's dad for our ride to the airport. We said our goodbyes (although not for long since I'm now moved back to the DFW!) and I waited for my flight back home (which got delayed for an hour and a half - ugh).
This probably would have been a more exciting post if I had posted it last Monday, but I was busy having my super cute furniture delivered to my awesome apartment! Pictures to come, I promise! I just want to decorate it a little more so it looks homier.
