May Jam Sesh

So for weeks I've been seeing bloggers link up for #backthatazzup Friday and it's become one of my favorite link ups to read about! This week I'm finally participating.

Here are some of my jams from the months of May. It's ok to dance a little... Or A LOT!

A Little Party Never Killed No by Fergie on Grooveshark

Bang Bang by will.i.am on Grooveshark
The Great Gatsby soundtrack is amazeballs, to say the least. I cannot help but dance in my car every time I turn these two songs up! Not to mention, I love to do the Charleston and these songs are PERF.

I Love It (feat. Charli XCX) by Icona Pop on Grooveshark
This song is just FUN. I love it. Seriously.

Get Lucky by Daft Punk ft. Pharrell Williams on Grooveshark
Why didn't I know Pharrell and Daft Punk were a music match in Heaven until now? I can't get enough!!!

Stubborn Love by The Lumineers on Grooveshark
I love the Lumineers. Don't have their album or anything, but so far their singles have rocked my world. Love love love.

What songs had you groovin' this month?

Long Weekend Shenanigans!

It was a long weekend and it was fantabulous (as all long weekend should be).

Sami's Shenanigans

I convinced my mom to take a half day Friday. We went over to the furniture store and finished picking out my furniture AND ORDERED IT. This whole moving in July thing is getting more and more REAL. I'm SO excited. I can't wait to have the cutest apartment ever. OH! And I'm getting a sweet Tempurpedic bed and I could not be any more excited. It's ok to be jealous about how awesome I'll be sleeping come late July. I'm going to have to start taking naps on my couch so I don't sleep though my classes, I think... Bahaha.
The furniture I picked for my living room
Saturday, my mom and I did a little random shopping around town before my roomie's engagement/dinner party! One of my awesome college roomies has a ton of family around these parts and they threw her a dinner party so they could meet her fiance. Naturally, the three green house roomies were reunited and it was a good time. Also, Stacey's fiance, Adam, is awesome.
me, Amanda, and Stacey
When I got home, I had two invites waiting the mail to Stacey's bridal and bachelorette parties in June. Should be definite good times. #PUMPED

On Sunday, I went to my seester's company Revue. She danced SO beautifully. Her solos were awesome. I'm so proud of the dancer she's become. She's so cool and graceful and I want to be her when I grow up. Even though she's younger. Whatever, you get it.
Seester in her company revue Circus themed opener

After realizing I'd been at said Revue for two hours already and there were still about 10 numbers left and I'd seen seester's solos and my favorite dances, I ran backstage and gave her flowers and told her how awesome she is before heading home to get ready for a Memorial Day party! After a quick change and some luvins for Nappy, I went out to my friend Bonnie's for some yummy food and fun friends in the sun (what little there was left)!

On Monday, my mom and I went shopping (again) for some much needed accoutrements (whoa, I spelled it right on the first try) before seeing the Hangover III. I've decided that the people that wrote the Hangover movies are seriously sick, but even more than that, seriously hilarious. The Hangover III is a must see and stay after the credits start because there's another mini-ending that makes the movie THAT much funnier.

What did you do this long holiday weekend?

Weekend Shenanigans!

I'm linking up for Weekend Shenanigans for my first time! I'm so excited! I love reading other people's Weekend Shenanigans and I finally feel like I had a cool enough weekend to link up, too hahaha.

Friday was Nappy's birthday! He turned two! I made him some pupcakes earlier in the week, so we celebrated with another one of those.
Pupcake time!
Saturday, I picked up Lindsay and Chad and Kendall and we drove out to Grand Prairie to check out the new outlet mall that opened about a year (probably less than) ago! It was SOOOO nice and so much fun! I got a really cute dress at the Banana Republic outlet store and I can't wait to wear it this weekend to a dinner party for one of my roomies from college. We shopped for about 4 hours and still didn't hit every store there (but hit most of the ones we all wanted). It was great. I can't wait to go back and shop again with my mom (hopefully sometime this summer/fall once I'm moved back to the Fort).
Just look how cute the dress is and ignore my face

After shopping, we drove over to Arlington for the Rangers game. This was only my second pro baseball game and I'm absolutely hooked. Especially because when the Rangers score 7, Papa John's has a promo code for half-price pizza for the next day! Kendall's roommate, Michael, got us AWESOME seats. We were in an "all you can eat" section and in the second row. We could have gotten hit by fly balls at any moment. Batting practice was a bit unnerving once we sat down with our food before the game actually started. The Rangers beat the Detroit Tigers 7-2 (hello half price pizza!).

We left during the 8th inning and headed back to Tyler. We had a BLAST all day and were slightly delirious once we got back in the car. I finally got home after dropping everyone back off around 12:30. I was exhausted but had to talk to my mom.

She had called me earlier to tell me she took Nappy to the vet. He was extra pitiful after I left and hadn't totally been acting himself since Thursday. Turns out he has a staph infection (second one this year). Poor baby must have gotten scratched at the groomer on Wednesday. I felt awful for being gone while he felt so bad, but I'm so glad my mom was here to take care of him! And really glad he's back on the mend. I hate when my fur baby gets sick.
Nappy likes to hog the couch when he feels bad
I don't know why my pictures are all so pixelated and gross... That kind of stinks.

Happy Barkday, Nappy!

Nappy turned TWO today! I love this nugget so much!
Nappy!
Yes, that is a pup cake in the bottom of the right picture in the collage. We signed up for 6 months of Bark Boxes and one of the first ones had a Puppy Cake mix so I saved it and made it this week for his barkday!

And as a side note: I've started looking for furniture for my future apartment and I'm going to have the cutest stuff ever! I'm so excited! I will definitely be posting pictures come late July/early August (depending on how long it takes me to get settled and decorated).

Do you celebrate your pet's birthday?

New Experience

So I totally failed on that Everyday in May link up... I did great for the first week and then I fell off the wagon. Oops.

Oh well, I decided to tell you about a new experience. I woke up before the sun and went outside in the freezing cold (ok, it was in the 50's, but in May in Texas that's cold!) and worked out.
I went to Boot Camp.

My friend Lindsay has been doing it since February and has absolutely fallen in love with it. She's seen results, too! She wanted me to try it after she started, but that stay in the hospital delayed things a bit - but I promised her I'd try it once before I moved to Fort Worth! And today I did it.
Lindsay and me at Christmas
I woke up at 4:30 AM when it was still dark outside and worked out for an hour. It completely sucked while I was there, but I have felt great (although tired) all day (and surprisingly not very sore at all)! Today was arms and I have no upper body strength so it was really hard. I definitely didn't do everything as hardcore as everyone else but I tried it and accomplished it and it's nice to try something and like it and feel like it went well! So I'm definitely patting myself on the back.

The instructor was fabulous. I really liked her - she didn't push to excess, she kept it positive, and showed me (nicely) how to do everything. (I was worried that the instructor for something called "boot camp" would be SUPER intense and somewhat negative which is not the way I'd like to work out at all.)

I think I'll try it again and maybe in Fort Worth I'll find a group that does it not so early in the morning because I don't know how Lindsay gets up at 4:30 every morning for that. She's a beast for sure.

Have you tried Boot Camp?

Everyday in May: Day 10

Today's prompt is an embarrassing moment. But I'm REALLY easily embarrassed, so anything embarrassing is the most embarrassing moment.

Instead of publishing my most mortifying moment on the internet for anyone to see, I'm going to leave you with a silly one that isn't so bad in all actuality.

A little over a year ago, my mom and I went to get pedicures. I hit the jackpot and got everyone's favorite, Danny. He gives the BEST leg massages. Ever. Anyway, after the best pedicure ever, My mom and I went to sit in the drying area with our feet under that light that probably doesn't actually do anything for your pedicure, but it does keep them away from things to run into. Well, when I was turning to get up, I ran my toe into my mom's purse and messed up my pedicure right there. Danny had to come over and fix my toe while poking fun at me.

Stupid, but I'm super easily embarrassed and my nail salon is ALWAYS super busy so there were a ton of people laughing at me too. But I laughed it off and am always crazy careful getting up from that little table now - hahaha.

Everyday in May: Day 9

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!! Today's prompt is perf. So get ready for a little bit of picture overload.

I'm 25 now and I've decided that 25 is going to be the best year yet. I went to the Dr for a check up Tuesday and all of my blood work was as close to normal as it's been in a LOOOONG time. It's all because I FINALLY have my tummy issues under control and I feel a million and a half times better than I have in a LOOOOOONG time. I hate that I had to stay in the hospital for 8 days two months ago, but damn - I'm SO glad to know what's wrong and has been causing so much trouble. ANYWAY, since all that is good to go, I'm dedicating 25 to being the most phenom, amazeballs, fantasmagorical year ever. Here are some shots from my day!

Everyday in May: Day 8

Today's prompt is a piece of advice.
My advice kind of goes along with my quote from the other day... "If you're not laughing, you're not living."

Another favorite quote of mine is "don't take life too seriously. No one gets out alive." My advice to anyone and everyone is to not take life too seriously. Learn to laugh at yourself and the things around you. Make yourself a joke on occasion and relax. Some things are meant to be serious, but most things aren't and it makes life a lot easier (and more fun) if you learn to laugh at yourself.

Do you laugh at yourself? I certainly do.

Everyday in May: Day 7

You thought I forgot again, didn't you? Fooled ya!
Today's prompt is something we fear...

I'm afraid that I'll never feel fulfilled. I've been unemployed for three years now and I'm for sure feeling unfulfilled. I'm afraid that once I start grad school, I'll be more confused about the future of my career and therefore when I finally get a job I'll be dissatisfied. I'm also afraid that because I've been single for so long that once I am in a relationship it won't be satisfying. I know these are silly things to be afraid of and that everything happens for a reason and whatnot, but I'm so afraid of these things. And in my head I said this all a lot better...

What are you afraid of?

Everyday in May: Days 5&6

Ok, so I'm not the best at this, but I'm making up for it by giving you two posts in one!

Day 5: Publicly profess your love and devotion for a blog friend.
Julie and I went to college together. We had several classes together because we were in the same (kick ass) major. She was also on color guard with one of my roommates. After we graduated she hooked me up with an interview in Dallas for an internship. When she started her blog, I instantly felt like we were friends - lame, but true. I've learned so much more about her through her cute blog, facebook, and instagram. She's been busy planning several events for her job the past weeks, so she hasn't had time to post regularly, but I know when she does she'll give a full report on life and her events (which looked very successful)!
Go check her blog out and follow her now! Julie is precious!

Day 6: Basically I'm interpreting this prompt as what's your dream job?
Currently I'm really interested in Social Media. It's THE up-and-coming job of the moment and I think I'd be great at it. I kind of do it now for my part time job, but I know for a fact I'm doing it the "wrong" way. So it's my hope that when I start grad school in the fall, I will learn the "right" way to do social media or maybe even find something else I'd love to do in the communications/advertising/public relations world. There's a ton to do within it and it's all exciting!

Are you linking up for Everyday in May? How are you doing with sticking to the schedule?

Everyday in May: Day 4

Today's prompt is your favorite quote.

This is REALLY hard for me because I love so many quotes from real people, books, and movies. I went to my Pinterest "Quotes to Live By" board and just scrolled for forever because there are so many good ones... Here's what I finally ended up picking.

I truly believe that laughter is the best medicine for anything. Surround yourself with people who laugh so that you can live out this quote, that's what I like to do anyway!

What's your favorite quote?

Everyday in May: Day 3

I'm on a roll, y'all! It's Friday and day 3 of this blog challenge. The prompt today is things that make you uncomfortable.

A lot of the blogs I've read today have PDA listed and I have to start my list with complete agreement. Hand holding? OK. A peck on the cheek? OK. A kiss on the lips? OK. But full on major lip-lock action that borders on making out in public? NEVER OK. Never. No one wants to watch that, I'm sorry. Get a room.

Sex on TV/in movies. I'm almost 25-years-old. I don't mind talking about sex and Game of Thrones is on HBO so tons of nudity there, but something about watching it just makes me uncomfortable. Especially around other people.

People talking on the phone in public. Like in elevators. And when they're loud. Nobody wants to listen to your conversation. Take it outside or tell them you'll call them back in a few minutes.

Thinking about how dirty movie theater seats and restaurant booths are. Don't do it, you'll get uncomfortable and grossed out.

Old men dancing with young women. We went out last weekend to celebrate my bestie passing a big test and getting (hopefully) a big raise with her job and one of the nurses bestie works with came out with us. She's a dancing fool! But there was an older gentleman who became obsessed with dancing with her and perhaps got a little handsy... It was just awkward and uncomfortable.

Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler on Big Bang Theory. I love them, don't get me wrong. But Sheldon is so crazy clueless that sometimes I just get annoyed and uncomfortable! And Amy makes me uncomfortable in her funny way.

16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom and whatever spinoffs I'm missing.

What makes you uncomfortable?

Everyday in May: Day 2

Today's prompt is telling everyone about something you're good at.

Seeing as it's now late (again) and I had all afternoon to actually write this post and I didn't, I'm going to tell you how amazing I am at procrastinating.

I put the PRO in procrastinate. For reals. I'm going to share a list of things to do so you can become a pro like me.

1. Facebook. Get on a friend's page. Look at their pictures. Pick a random person in one of their pictures. Stalk that person. You know you've done this at least once in your lifetime. Unless you don't and never have had Facebook. In college Facebook has bumper stickers you could send your friends. I remember one Friday afternoon my friends and I spent no less than 2 hours sending bumper stickers to each other and laughing hysterically. No Facebook has stupid games, but that's something else to do entirely.

2. Pinterest. Pinterest is a BLACK effing HOLE of procrastinating. I'm SO glad it wasn't around while I was in undergrad because I would have flunked out. I'm not even kidding. I've become a lot more lax on how much time I spend on it, but I still spend a good chunk of time pinning crap I'll probably never use.

3. Games. Thanks to the iPhone I think we all have our little games we love to check in on. Words with Friends, Matching with Friends (my personal favorite at the moment), Draw Something, Flood It, Snake, whatever, there's WAY too many of them and all of us have at least one we're addicted to in some capacity.

4. Apps. Thanks to smartphones, we love apps. Love love LOVE. We can't get enough. I check Instagram all the time because I love looking at other people's pictures. I've always loved pictures of all kinds, but Instagram just fuels the fire. I'm recently hooked on Vine as well... Also, I have a Tamagotchi and it's FANTASTIC. Tamagotchi L.I.F.E. in the iTunes App store. It's free. You 90's kids need to get in on this right now. My current one has been alive for almost 10 days which is a record going back to the original little egg key chain...
Tamagotchi 2.0 died while I was at dance last week...

5. Online Shopping. Do I really need to explain this one? We're all addicted. Just use it to procrastinate and ignore whatever responsibility you may have (unless it's another human being or your pet - take care of those).

6. Read. I got a Kindle for Christmas 2011. I've read WAY more than ever thanks to it. I read almost every night before I go to bed - yes, I procrastinate sleeping, even when I'm exhausted.

7. Nap/Sleep. This was my procrastination activity of choice back in the day. Got a big paper? Take a nap. You'll definitely start on it after you've slept for 3 and a half hours... Maybe.

8. Annoy your roommates. They most likely want to procrastinate as well.

I know this was kind of stupid, but it's all I could come up with because I'm dedicated to at least making it halfway through this challenge - I wasn't going to miss Day 2.

Everyday in May: Day 1

A couple of blogs I follow are doing this and I decided I'm going to attempt it! I'm a little late because I was in Fort Worth all day looking at apartments (yay!). Here goes nothing...

Today is your life story in 250 words.

Halloween 2012 - Rosie the Riveter
I am a Taurus born in the late 1980’s. Life growing up in the 90’s was awesome, as many of you know. I was the only girl in my pre-school class. This is where I learned to be “one of the guys,” despite being super shy as I got older. My parents got divorced when I was 10, but have made life so easy by getting along since and I can’t thank them enough. I attended an all girls camp for 8 years as a camper and made some of my life-long friends there. I’m not going to lie – I’ll be more than slightly devastated if I don’t have a little girl of my own to send there one day… Or if my child hates camp. In high school I left the private school I had been attending for ten and a half years to go to public school – one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I came out of my shell and became much more social. Had I not experienced this change I don’t think I would have had the guts to move away for college. I went to the best private college in the state of Texas, Texas Christian University – go frogs. There I made amazeballs friends, learned to cheer loud and love all things purple, and generally loved everything life had to offer. I graduated three years ago and have been working part time and freelance ever since. I start grad school in August at TCU!

Are you linking up?
