6x6 Craftasticness

A few months ago, a local art gallery announced a cute little auction they were holding for their anniversary. Artists could call or email them for a canvas and in September they will show off (and auction off) the 6x6 canvasses to raise money for the gallery! I emailed and requested 2. They were due last Friday and I'm just now blogging about them (I'm still in a blogging rut, bummer). Anyway, I'm thinking about doing something like this for a give away! Here are my finished canvasses. Let me know if you'd be interested in picking a short, cute quote and having me paint something like one of these.

I, personally, am in love with my Lilly one. The Hepburn/Hilton one took a lot of redos so I'm not totally pleased with the final outcome.

Anyway, let me know what you think. I'd be will to do bigger canvasses than 6x6, but not too huge. I think these would be really cute in a bathroom or above a desk (or if there was a cute foodie quote in a kitchen).

Bandwagon Hopping

So I've been loving reading all of these "If You Really Knew Me" type posts on the blogs I'm following, so I'm doing one, too!

If you really knew me, you'd know...

I broke my ankle 10 years ago getting off of a bus. Can you say embarrassing? I was at a private school and they hosted "Fish Camp" for all of the freshmen. It was a disastrous day. I started the day off by falling out of a bus. A girl stepped on a rusty nail and had to go get a Tetanus Shot and one of the guys got hit in his... nether region, if you catch my drift. My ankle was SOOOO swollen and bruised. It was disgusting. I could barely get my tennis shoe off my right foot. When I went to get an X-ray, my ankle was too swollen to actually tell if it was broken. Then I got to start my freshman year of high school, in Texas August heat, on crutches.

I'm a social media fiend! I spent more time on Facebook in college than any of my friends and they made sure to make fun of me for it. Now I'm hoping to get a job sometime in the future in social media.

I love crafting. Love love LOVE.

I'm SUPER competitive. A lot of the time it's internal, but sometimes (like War Canoe at camp) it's very outward and intense.

I think it's weird that Rory didn't rush when she went to Yale on Gilmore Girls. I mean, maybe it's just the southerner in me that knows sororities are a huge deal, but you can't tell me Emily Gilmore didn't belong to a sorority and her lifelong dream was for her daughter/granddaughter to be in that same sorority. And yes, Yale does have sororities. One of my camp friends was a Pi Phi there.

I love the Bullseye in Entertainment Weekly. I think it's hilarious.

I'm a major homebody. I didn't even look at out of state schools when going to college. I love Texas and if I go out of state for grad school it'll be a state that touches Texas.

I love cats. But not as much as that crazy e-harmony chick that cried about cats. That's a little excessive.

I consider myself to be a fierce friend. I love my friends. I want them to be happy at all times. I love spending time with my friends. Friends, friends, friends. Very important to me.

I HATE scary movies. I can't even watch the trailers for them. At the movie theater, I either get on my phone or stare at my popcorn. I'm a huge baby about scary movies. Not a fan. At all.

I think my dog is the cutest, funniest dog ever. You can't convince me otherwise. He's a corgi. He's handsome. He smiles. He wins. All other arguments are invalid.

I love college football season. I can't wait for its return! I'm mad TCU has a bye week the first week, but I'm still pumped. Go frogs.

Have you jumped on the bandwagon yet?

Miscellany Monday

Hello! I've been way MIA lately, sorry! I've been busy studying for the GRE (except the past 4 days when I randomly took a break for no real reason). I'm back and linking up for Miscellany Monday for the first time!

miscellany monday at lowercase letters

It's the first day of school for most colleges in my neck of the woods and it's so weird to think I could be starting school again in a year! This whole grad school thing has me thrown though a loop but it's exciting and I can't wait to see where it takes me. I'd love love LOVE to go back to TCU (because I love Fort Worth and their Ad/PR grad program is awesome), but I've been told that it's not always the best idea to get your masters where you got your bachelors... Bummer Anyone out there know anything about this? I'd love to hear your takes on it!
Aug 3, 2012 - just studying for the GRE... really exciting Friday night, obvs

My step-sister had her foot/ankle surgery Thursday. It's much tougher recovery than her knee last month. Two whole weeks (except her senior year of high school starts in a week) on bed rest and then a walking boot for many weeks. Send some good vibes her way. I'd really appreciate it if you did!

I found out my metabolic age last week. That is some no bueno ish going on. Most everything about my insides are ok (except water intake, but I'm REALLY working on that), but this learning of my metabolic age has really kicked me into gear on actually trying to get into better shape. I will for sure be taking part in the 20 Something's dance class at a local studio here. I've done a couple of the summer classes and last week's was awesome. I can't wait to get back into dance. I just hope I can find a place like this when I go to grad school!

I don't know if I've blogged about it before, but lips have started itching for some reason when my allergies are randomly bad...? Anyway, last night my lip was itching and in my sleep I scratched it and now it really hurts. Big bummer. Maybe a little TMI, but it's my blog, so you can deal.

Kelly Ripa will be announcing her new cohost SO soon! she tweeted that the new cohost will be on starting September 4! I've surprisingly enjoyed the continuous change in cohosts. My faves have been Josh Groban, Nick Lachey, Michael Buble, Seth Meyers, and Neil Patrick Harris. Her chemistry with them is great! I'd love for it to be one of them, but I don't think it will be due to contracts, families, and the like.

Are you linking up for Miscellany Monday?

Who saw this last night during the Olympics and busted out laughing by myself.

I love the Office. Jim and Dwight crack me up and this was perfect!

Did you laugh as hard as I did at this?

Friday's Letters

I'm linking up again for Friday's Letters!
Photobucket

AND Follow Friday!

Dear GRE, I really hope you're not as hard as I feel like you are/should be. I really suck at your math and it's bringing me down.

Dear Kaplan GRE Prep book, you are my new BFF. I have learned so much from you already. I just hope I can retain it all.

Dear Gabby Douglas, you are beyond presh and SOOO talented. You have renewed my obsession with gymnastics.

Dear Aly Raisman, in another life, when I come back as a gymnast, I want to be you. That's all.

Dear Olympics, thank you for making everyone feel ridiculously patriotic. Also, China can suck it because we're beating them in the medal count (total AND gold!). USA USA USA!!!

Dear 2012, it's August. How'd that happen?

Dear Will Ferrell, you are hilarious. Thank you for the COUNTLESS laughs you've provided me and my friends. I can't wait to see The Campaign next weekend. If you don't know, he's VERY upset about K-Stew and R-Patts.

Join these great link ups and have a wonderful weekend!
